I am going with the RC version and at the moment have shelved the Bismarck for a short while while i get another model built but in 1 month i shall be starting to build in earnest and the 1 main question I have is, as my deck is fairly bowed is it possible to glue the whole deck to the hull and only have the superstructure removable as once i have received my three gearboxes from redbank models and rudders and motors i shall be starting to install all of the running gear. I cant for-see any probs at the moment but i thought i could get some insight from you guys before i go ahead and cut really big holes in my deck for access the only thing that will be removable will be the batteries but i am thinking of putting a charge point on the hull so that is not necessary, but i really need guidance on this. The other idea i had to complement this was to make all the turrents easily removable
Cheers Guys

you'll need access to the whole drive system for later maintenance, such as:
- greasing the propshafts / rudder tubing
- re-adjusting the rudder linkage
- replacing a broken servo, motor, cardan joint....
- re-tightening loosenend setscrews

You could glue it down and modify it so that the superstructure is removeable, but as Markus says, you will still need access to the mechanics from time to time.
It's probably quite a difficult mod to make. You'd normally make a coaming round the edge of the opening in the deck, and the super structure slides down over this. But our superstructure has a flat bottom, which makes it much more difficult.

I should have explained myself a bit more as i am going to try to leave the rear deck removeable but just the main deck as glued down motor couplings will not be used as i am using 3:1 gearboxes from graupner.
but thank you for your help
my other question would be are rare earth magnets a good option then to help close the lid ??
