Hi there My name is Matt from Brisbane, I have started building this beautiful ship, I hope it turns out to be a masterpiece. I see there are hull tacks? Do these come as parts ir are they purchased at a model store. I only have the first few issues and are way behind the rest of you guys. Any way I hope every one is feeling well and take care.

Hi Matt,
Welcome to the forum, as you can see theres been a rash of Aussie builders join up over the last few weeks. I'm from Sth Aust and so far only have up to issue 4 so I can't help you with your question about hull tacks/nails but I assume that if you've seen them in official Hachette photos then they will be supplied. Wouldn't worry about it much though because using the tacks can sometimes cause more problems with split planks and frames then they solve. What are you intending to build, static or R/C??
Regards Greg.

Hi Matt,
Welcome aboard m8. This is a great place to be part of, loads of experienced people to give help if needed and a few weirdos such as myself, Cliff, Nemesis, Eric and others to keep you laughing!!!! Anyway, good luck with your build - will it be r/c or static?
Regards Napoleon

Hey Matt
Welcome aboard. I have only been on this forum for a few weeks and found it to be a wealth of info, I'm sure you will too.
Cheers

Hi Matt, I'm in Mudgee but had a year in Brisbane in 2002. I have yet to start building as well but am seriously looking at buying the plank clamps rather than the nails (worried about splitting planks as Greg above said).

Im only looking at doing static (I think any way) I am thinking that I will have to pop into the hobby shop and see if they have the planking clamps, not sure on the price yet but will find out on mon I guess.

Hi Matt, If your local hobby shop doesn't carry the planking clamps then try this link. www.casulahobbies.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=2817Actually I was very surprised by the price of these and if its correct then I may even buy some myself even though I already have some of the older style plastic type. Fair warning though. You'll still have to drill pilot holes in the frames to avoid splitting them. If the frames were 5-6mm thick them this wouldn't be a problem but 4mm is too thin. Greg.
