Due to my enforced sabatical from building (mainly due to my attempts to hack off my own thumb with a rusty stanly knife blade, I've been pouring over the thread topics etc on this great forum and many happy memories have come flooding back.
So as we near the end of our cruise across the worlds oceans on our respective Bismarcks I think of all the great things we have now come to know and love.
Way back in the heady days of 2007 when we all decided to get the magazine (and to this day I often think what I on earth was i thinking) and then we all feveredently logged onto our favorite search engine in search of other lost wandering souls wandering and wondering how on earth a bag of bits will grow into something resembling a great WW2 battleship it started out as a UK based operation -and like swine flu - we are now a global forum not many forums can stake a claim to be compared to a influenza virus! ;D
Who had thought that we all started out how things would have turned out:
I, for example, was still single and now I am married almost a year. We have all crossed paths with late and very great charecters such as Yoddha, Nem and Nap (our very own Morcambe and Wise) and their many many colourful and funny conversations. Got our very own dancing girl Afkamatrix and not to mention our dancing troupe of dancing girls and their dodgy cocktails. And the less said about DD the better. And Marks pleas for us to water his plants despite our best efforts to kill...sorry tend to them with the hinderance/interference of cats, lack of water, we finally suceeded in showing Mark to have plastic plants.
We gasped in awe at the new found uses of No More Nails over and above what even Unibond could ever have thought off!
Further more, how many forums can boast their own awards and awards ceremony where the best flavoured jelly in the world (tm) is decided! And lets be honest can we all imagine life without the now truly great insitiution of scale measurement of the humble match stick and sugar cubes. The best things since sliced bread Im sure you will all agree. And how Rochdale has become the destination of many a fine 'Honest John ' missile over the past few months. Not to mention our own colony of penguins and SAS trained flock of sheep
There have been many ups and downs, such as my spectacluar super nova implosion of my wedding plans - talk about snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and how everyone rallied around with offers of support. We have drawn inspiration and gave support to members of this board whose path, shall we say has been rocky as of late, I'm sure you all know who that is.
I have gained many many great friends over the years, Mark, Robert et all and Im sure fellow board members who think the same of me despite my best attempts of serious disruption!
Its been great these past few years and heres to the next three years of turning the missus kitchen table into a dockyard.
