Seems like this is a trial for something bigger being released in January 2010. 1/12 scale Lancaster with a 80" wingspan. Any serious modellers out there may want to wait for this. www.scale3d.co.uk/5952/index.html

As I read it - and maybe I'm wrong - the partworks Lancaster they talk about is the current one: these plans seem to be a larger development of that project.

I don't subscribe to these things, despite all the offers of free this and free that. Most decent modelers already have the stuff on their bench.
Lots of people have complained both on here and other forums about the really bad subscription problems, lack of deliveries etc.
I always use my local independant newsie as my parts always are there on time and in perfect order. It really helps to keep a stable work regime going rather than always being at least 4 weeks behind. If anything goes wrong I can always order new parts which usually take a week or 2.
I must point out that Hachette don't run the supscription service it is farmed out to Jacklin enterprises with offices in Jarrow.
On another point I wonder who has produced this partwork kit and if it will be issued as a full kit in a box like Amati do with the partworks that they work on for Hachette.
I understand that Amati did improve the Titanic kit after it was released into their catalogue after lots of complaints about the cheap and nasty printed card detail. They changed the kit and have replaced all the card stuff with etched brass detail work which as those who replaced their Hachette card stuff for it from a 3rd party said it made for much better model.
Now with the Bismarck which comes from Amati we see that all the detail work is etched brass which makes for a much more detailed model, more work and a longer partwork issue to offset the cost.
I.E. Titanic partwork 100 issues, Bismarck Partwork 140 issues and the new lancaster 125 issues.
Now don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining over this I think that these partworks from Hachette have improved enormously over the years because of feedback from sites like this and lots of time, effort and money are invested in producing these excellent kits which I actually think are value for money based on the amount of time, effort, thought and detail which the builders have to deal with (and add depending on the builders whim).
Mainstream model maufacterers such as Trumpeter and Dragon in china are taking more notice of these issues. Recently Trumpeter produced limited edition kits in 1/16 scale of the WWII King Tiger tank. which has a full interior including an engine which is a kit in itself. These have been released as two kits with the initial and series turrets. They are said to also be working on the Jagdtiger version. airfix are said to be releasing a 1/24 Mossie sometime this year.
What I would really like to see is a 1/12 Mossie from Hachette with all the interior detail. There's an excellent Mossie at Elvington in Yorkshire that would be excellent as a reference aircraft. When I last saw it, she had just been restored to at least top class museum condition and looked not far off actual flying condition.
Long may these excellent kits find their way to us!
James

Im with Nm it just seems like plans of the hachette lanc in 2 scales no parts or instructions but great for experienced builders. And very expensive just for plans.
