Arrived in California from Ireland on Monday.
Eight or nine hours behind most of you; they say the temperature here (Sacramento) will hit 100 degrees (whatever that is) on Friday.
Went to a local railroad museum. When they build the transcontinental railway in the 1860's they worked west from Omaha and east from Sacramento. The first locomotive for the Sacramento end arrived, disassembled, on a three-masted sailing ship from the East Coast around Cape Horn - six months. A six-hour air trip now.
Frustrated by intermittent access to the internet.

Floods in Melbourne. Drought, fire and hail and floods.
Interesting times. Hope our Australian friends are OK.
