Thought I would give the missus a treat so we are off to London tomorrow for a long weekend. Hopefully will find some time to take a trip to the HMS Belfast but I may be pushing my luck!!

Have a great time Gordon, and good luck with HMS Belfast - well worth the trip if you can make it. You could always bribe your better half with a trip to Regent Street (which may make the Belfast tickets seem very cheap !!)

HMS Belfast is brilliant Gordon, well worth the visit. I've been to her twice and would happily go again if I get the chance!
I'd also recomment the Imperial War Museum too, just walking past those two huge 15inch guns is worth it!
I am sure you can talk 'er in doors into a couple of small trips......

If you get to the Imperial War Museum look out for the huge shell from the Dora rail gun as used at Odessa - it's (or it was) in the central area. nm

Had a great weekend but sadly time was limited so didn't get a chance to do the war museum. Many of you recommended the Belfast and I wasn't disappointed, great value and spent a good couple of hours exploring the ship. Its a small cruiser and it gives you just some idea what it would have been like to be aboard some of the great battleships like the Bismarck. We have been to London many times but have so far avoided most of the big tourist traps but on this trip we took the chance to visit the Tower of London which was also very interesting, if a bit on the expensive side at 17quid a head! Forever the Scotsman - what can I say.. Anyway, I took some pics and my Son thought this one was "a very good photo of dad".... Bless him.

The Royal Yacht is well worth a visit too, looking at the engines is like looking at a cruisers engine in miniture!

The science museum is much better value for money - it's FREE ! (and a superb day out - worth putting a few quid in the collection box.)
