G'day I'm richo from Adelaide South Australia, Salisbury Downs really. I started my Bismarck in1970 and a girl, later my wife of 36 years helped to paint it.The plans were from the Model Boat magazine and were dark lines for the bow and stern with light lines as the rest. Not good, but with some 4x1x36 inch balsa and other pieces I built an 55inch r/c model. Along comes a hatchette publication and now I am building a museum quality version, to be radio controlled of course. I am amazed at the tremendous detail of this build, but am worried about the problems that have been written about this version, and I need help.

Right, I am a little worried about the planking, but the more I read, the better I feel. Some of the mods seem to be OK, so I might try a few. I am concerned about the sea keeping ability and the raising of the toe rail will be a challenge. Now where are the dancing girls?

Welcome. I see we will have to dust off all those lists of help points (what colour paints to use and who to buy it from, how to lay wooden decks, ready made deck railings, moving gun turrets, etc., etc., etc., etc., etc., ........). Don't worry, we have (nearly) all the answers and (hopefully) someone will remember where they are !!
