Wow I haven't been on here in a VERY long time, hope everyone is doing well. All of the Bissy's are looking superb, really great , mine however is still stuck on the shelf on the same condition it has been since about last summer I need everyone's help with my current college work. Some of you may remember a topic here a while ago where I asked for ideas on a solution to a problem that I could design and create for my Technology Course.... Well.....here it is.... After getting some more feedback on inital ideas on another forum the members pointed me in the direction of some sort of cabinet to store most modelmakers tools and paints. Now that it is complete I would like your opinions on it. It is very hard to get someone other than myself who does modelmaking to actually try it out as none of my friends do anything of the sort (too interested in computer games!) and so I would simply like your views on appearance and the like. Would you have a finish on it? Does it look too small? Is there is enough storage space? etc etc Please me critical, although I do understand that it is hard when you don't have the real thing in front of you Thankyou very much Daniel P.S. in the first picture the handle on the door had broke so ignore that little detail!

Hi Daniel
Very nice looking cabinet!!
My only observations are : a) Not enough space for paints b) No hanging space for essential modelbuilding tools like sidecutters, steel rule etc.
As for the finish I think that is a personal preference however a prospective buyer would probably rather spend time building his models than painting his new tool cabinet.
Hope this helps and keep up the good work - you have a great design there!

Thanks Grantj, I do agree with the lack of space, we had very little time to make the actual product (damn curriculum) so I had to make do.
As to the hanging space would you recomend removing one the side towers with the shelves and using that space for other tools? Or something else?

I think that sounds like a good idea because due to the size of the side towers they are not really practical for storage.
The best way to work it is to lay out the tools in front of you that you would use most often and that you want witihn reaching distance while you are building. Things like glues, brush cleaner, paper towel, airbrush, fillers and putty are also vital tools whilst building.

Hi Daniel,
Welcome back to the forums and don't worry about not working on the bissy for ages, I have left it sitting for nearly 1.5 years lol and have only just got back into it (now have the joy of doing tons of decking yeepiii lol).
And your project looks ace mate, I loved woodwork in school, even managed to build a go kart lol. About the only thing I would add to grantj's comments is that it would be good to put a backing to the shelves on either side so things don't get shoved out the back.

Thanks AFK, a go kart eh? sounds cool! I see what you mean about adding a back to the towers, the cabinet does sit flush against a wall so there won't be a gap but do you think it would still benefit from having an attached back? and thanks Grant that will go straight into my evaluation

Hi Daniel, just a suggestion - modify the heights of the left shelves so that you can fit drawer units as below.
