I am building the Earth, Moon and Sun Orbiter and we are currently at number 30 in South Africa.
Besides small problems here and there that are easily overcome, I have however one big problem that according to forums on the net, most other builders have as well.
Maybe someone who has solved the following problem in the mean time, that can help the rest of us.
The earths' gear that runs on the bigger gear only works 100% (does not get stuck somewhere) once the whole earth section is lifted about 2 to 3 mm higher up. The problem is that it can be done easily by hand, but once you let go, the gear falls back of course and gets stuck again.
One solution might be to make the spaces between the gear's teeth a little bigger, but I do not want to risk it yet at this stage. If I mess up, it is hundred bucks (RSA rand) or more down the line.
Another solution might be to bend the 45 degrees rod of the earth a little lower down, but that might also be extremely difficult to do, if you do not have the right tools and skills.
Yet another solution would be to somehow put something under the rod of the earth that can lift it that couple of millimeters, but that is also easier said than done.
I hope to get some feedback from someone that has a relative easy and workable solution.
Thanks.
