Just popped by to say hello and that. How many of you have a love hate relationship with the bismarck. All those hours and for a long time it seem never to get anywhere, things going wrong, dropping one of many very small brass parts . Oh how I am looking forward to fitting the deck handrails

Welcome to the Forum. I know what you mean about dropping parts. I think I've spent more time on muy hands and knees looking for small parts than gluing them on !
As an aside, I recently did a plastic model Tiger Tank, which was moulded in a sandy coloured plastic, almost exactly the same colour as my carpet....... Grrrrr

1/35 scale. I'm afraid there aren't any photos as I made it for somebody else and they didn't want any photos published.

If someone hasn't done that Eric I would consider them a God! lol
At least with carpet the pieces bury in relatively near to where they land, wooden flooring however sends those pieces sliding everywhere :/

Hi Daniel, Wrong!!! I have lost quite a few parts on my carpet (solid red of all things!) and I can assure you that they "bounce" quite a distance. I deliberately dropped a few parts from table height, and some landed up over 4 feet away from the dropping point! I have also lost a few parts never to be seen again, one part was some 3mm long! In severe cases, when hard to find, I lie flat on the floor and shine a 1000 watt torch at the carpet in the hope that the light will be reflected off the shiny brass, sometimes with success, sometimes without! I always take the utmost care in cuting out the brass bits, but now and again they seem to have a mind of their own, and usually when it is very hard to dupicate them ( have had to do that from spare sprue before now!)

Welcome to the forum Kereith Also been there and done that with photo etch pieces being eaten by the carpet monster ! Then I got smart and stuck a piece of masking tape on the underside of the photoetch sheet and this put paid to bouncing, flying pieces

Yes, and then when you pick it up with the tweezers - ping again!

I tend to lose more pieces while trying to stick them on than cutting them from the fret. Must buy a pair of sticky tweezers !

I use little bits of blue tack rolled into a small ball on the end of a pencil, holding it down on the piece I'm cutting off the fret and then it doesn't ping, took a while to suss this method out, but with 2 dogs laying a your feet, that ping could end up down at the bottom of the garden.
