Having not seen the advert I can only assume the following - if its based on the UK advert the model was not shown on the water - so I assume its a static model. So the turrets rotating could prove to be good for motorising it as I assume there are some sort of turntable underneath the turrets. Unless its a peg in a round hole type construction.,

I believe the RC version is just the static version with electronics built into it? I could be wrong though... here's the link to the german homepage: www.die-bismarck-bauen.de/index2.htmat the bottom of the page you can see this line: Sehen Sie hier den aktuellen Tv-Spot. click it and the german TV-spot will open in the same window ( assuming you don't have a pop-up blocker..) around the end of the commercial you can see someone turning the front turret ( anton?). German is a pretty cool language by the way ;D

Yes saw the advert the man seemed to have the turret in his hand and he sat it down on the location so it must be also removable, handy to put a switch under for the Radio Control

Hope to at least make my turrets turn and will certainly try to make the gun barrels go up and down! Have also thought about a lighting system for the model.

I thought about lighting too, mainly in the superstructure.

Lights in my ship as well. I might use some fibre optics I have left over from old Star Trek plastic kits. I was thinking about running fibres through the gun barrels as well, I saw that some people were going to use smoke makers for the barrels, I'm just going to use fibre optics.

Going tio have to be pretty steady getting a hole through the barrel. Unless you are scratch builidng the barrels so they are hollow.

I'm a CNC turner, so making new barrels are pretty easy. I'm going to see how good the barrels are, if they are no good, I will make new anyway.

Thats fine. Based on the 1/200 plans posted a while back, I would say after setting up the m/c, they would take less than a minute to turn and drill. I am going to see what the quality of the barrels are when they arrive.

I like the idea of fibre optics. Like Don was saying Paulhbell could end up with a large order for gun barrels. Light shinning from the port holes and other parts would certainly enhance the model on display.I added lights to the Victory and at dusk with the light shinning out of the gun ports looks ok.

I have just noticed in the british advert that the guns are definately turnable and also can be moved up and down!!! just after they show the wooden parts and the magazine and just before the man turns the turret with his hands you can clearly see the gun turret turned at 90 degrees and the barrels are pointing up... luckily you can pause the advert to see it more clearly I believe you can see it after 12 seconds... BTW, might sign up for an account here, I'm sick of that darned security check an not being able to fix spelling errors...
