I have put my stern resin part on and it has mopved to one side.
I carnt cut it off as i havent got very good cuttin skills with a saw, it has gone over to the right hand side and the left has gone level with the 1st layer of planking.
ive thought of rubbin down the planks on lkeft hand side and then just doin second layer then modyfying the resin part to fit

No problem. Take a look at pictures of the Bismarck wreck, and you'll see the stern broke off anyway!

I think I'd be inclined to try cutting it off. If it were me I'd turn the model upside down, hold it on a table so it's nice and solid. Take a junior hacksaw or razor saw with a new blade. Slowly, one cut at a time, saw down as close as the resin as you can get. It's easier to saw the wood rather than the resin. Slow and steady wins the day, don't go at like you're trying to win a logging contest You'll need to replace the wood the thickness of a saw cut, but some 1mm planks will do that. Use PVA for wood to wood side. Epoxy for the wood to resin side. Tape the resin part in place while the epoxy sets. I'm not sure your idea of modifying the resin and planking will work very well. However, go with whatever you feel most confident with.

Russ, I think you'll find that remodelling the resin part will be more difficult than developing sawing skills. I'd be inclined to find a modelling (tennon) saw with a deep blade, and very slowly and carefully cut the stern off. If you've already fitted the covering plywood piece, I'saw through that too. At worst you will be left with a small join that the saw was unable to reach, which might then give way if you twist the resin part. David.

I agree with Mark and David. I had to cut off part of mine to realign the anchor pocket. As they say, just take it nice and steady, keeping as square as you can, In the case of a disaster with the saw, remember with wood models you can always make good with wood filler!! (ask Daryl).

Hello. I have a slightly different problem with the stern. Part 63 extends 24mm over the stern. The resin part is 28mm hence a noticable difference. My construction is as per the instructions 42/11. If I trim the resin part I will lose the anchor reccess. Any ideas?

Hi RWCLANCER, for my new stern resin part, which also jutted out, see my first post in the thread NEW PART 70 in the HULL section. I blended it in using an additional wood plank steamed to go around the ply part as seen. (I later modified the new part 70 anyway, as I decided that the anchor pocket was still too low, see my own section for this)
