Blimey, warp speed!
One question, I see you have'nt drilled out the wood behind the portholes, have you some cunning plan in mind, or will you just paint in black?

I have drilled recesses behind most portholes, rather than go all the way through. A spot of black paint will finish it off. Bad news on the computer front - my hard disk has just died, which means that I can't update the web site. At least I can use my wife's lap top to read the forum Now, the big question. Do I spend £50 on a new hard drive repairing my 5 year old desk top, or should I spend a few hundred on a shiney new Dell.....

I like Apple computers - well built, last longer, no viruses (viri?), come with a lot of good stuff.

I've had Dells for ages, both home and work. This one is about 5 years old and I've only re-installed the OS once, it's been abused something rotten, loads of software installed, and the filter was thick with dust when I last cleaned it. Have to say, its been very good. Pleased with the work laptop as well, so I think I'll stick with Dell. Thanks for the comments though. I'd be tempted with an Apple, but I don't fancy having to get to grips with yet another operating system. Quite fancy this one...... and my wife even said OK if you think it's worth it.... (I was only joking when I showed her !) www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/Desktops/alienware-area-51-alx/pd.aspx?refid=alienware-area-51-alx&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1...but I can't help thinking about all the models you could buy with that money !

It's not just that computers get old, it's that software gets new!
Update your software and the new is bigger than the old, and uses more resources - slows down the computer.

i'd get a dell, as no problems with them, my favorite is ACER, but i feel the modern acers have gone down hill in quality! I guess everyone has their own experiences, personally i'd never touch a HP or Mac (as it would take me 5 years to be able to use it lol)
