To get very cheap and effective plastic clips, look in yours (or your partners) wardrobe to see if you have any trouser/slack type coat hangers. The type that use two clips to hold garment in place. (see picture). Simply cut off the clips (but keep the plastic rail bit) and use as quite strong clips with the advantage that they are lined with soft foam which safeguards the parts being glued. Mine own coat hangers came from M& S.
