Folks, I'm no expert in modern naval construction and warfare and I know I'm jumping way ahead still, but looking at the odd photo of actual ships, I note that the deck posts holding the chain railings seem to be quite flimsy (might survive a duck wake in our local waterhole if it has water in it) and disappear when the ships are at sea. In the case of the Bismarck, do the rails fold down, or were they removed at sea or in battle mode ? Does any modeller on this forum intend to recreate the post and chain rail system instead of using the photo etched parts supplied ? Scaling will be a challenge !!!!! If so I'd be very interested on their proposed modus operandi (Bazzas attempt at Latin). Baz

From pictures that I have seen, then the rails do indeed fold flat when she/he/it is in the battle mode. In view of Mark wishing to bring his model home, it might pay for anyone with a delicate situation, such as sailing, to adopt the battle mode!!!! ;D ;D ;D
