I was hoping you would tell me!
I have ordered thin superglue, I think that is the way to go.....but I shall wait 'till somebody who knows more than me points the way.
It'll be a couple of weeks until my next delivery (46 to 49) so I shall watch with great interest!!!!

Just completed the first of the brass strips, a bit of a nightmare!! They should have given us something to practice with! I used superglue to stick on the brass bits, as recommended in picture 10 of the instructions. I made a pool of superglue, and after a bit of trail and error, settled to dip the small part in it and then set in place. The small bits I held on the end of a toothepick with blue-tack, but unfortunately, my first attempt had too much glue on it and the blue-tack stuck to the brass! Luckily, being the large door, it was not too bad but took me a long time to scrape off the blue-tack. I left the long piece in the frame as I found this easier to hold, and only cut each piece out as I needed, following the instructions to a T. Made sure that I had a clear workspace and leant well over the bench so that I would not accidentally lose any bits. The worst bits are the vertical parts, 254,255, 256 and 248. Fitting into the slots was very hard. Car primer is best as it is designed to stick to metal (presumably self etching) else use an etching primer, but these are quite expensive. All painting is best left until the piece is fully complete, I noticed a couple of areas on the base plate which seem to suggest more parts to be stuck on it later. I intend to paint mine prior to fitting in place, as I have my decks installed already and cannot get spray paint on them. Finally, I also found drilling the portholes difficult, standard HSS drills have a habit of wandering off centre, and it is also hard to get a centre puch hole into the exact centre of the pencil marking. I cannot see how they managed to clamp the brass section to the wooden frame, as per picture 05, none of my clamps are big enough to fit the depth of wood frame.

Hi Swanrail,
I'm just wondering if you tried the needle trick suggested here for glueing the brass parts? Ie cut through the needle eye and use that. Does this work at all? Oh and also for stopping parts ping off does the masking tape idea work?

Hi, I have made up a needle rig, but have not used it yet, mainly because the parts are so small, that to hold them in place and then add the glue seems a bit dodgy. By dipping the part into a small pool of superglue ensures enough glue in place and lets me drop the part in just the right place. I am not at all happy with superglue anyway!!! Ref the sticky tape, problem might be getting the part back off the tape if the tape is too sticky, and will the tape glue effect the superglue bonding abilities?? I just cut my part out carefully, using a scrap block of wood as a cutting mat (the green one is too soft, and a harder surface tends to ping the part!!). Using the toothepick and bluetack to hold the part in place whilst cutting out seems to work OK for me. (I cut out using a Stanley knife)
