Great job Eric, she looks the part indeed. The weathering is quite subtle - just right for a ship that didn't have the chance to get old I can't really make out the strips under the grey - maybe washed out by the flash ?

The strips are there, they are more visable to the naked eye, I deliberately really faded them down to almost invisable.
Photo 1 shows them best, you cand just make out the front strip......well I can!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D
In the process of doing the port side just now, hope to finish tomorrow. I will put in a small touch of rust streak, mainly at the anchors and hawsers.

Love the paintwork, just enough of the stripes visible to suggest a rushed one coat paint job by the crew. Have some K

Ah, got it now - I was looking on the Superstructure ! (Doh !) Yup! I just did the hull only. The superstructure was painted over before she left Germany, so they did a much better job of painting it than the hull at Bergen. I won't be doing any signs of the Baltic camo on the superstructure at all.

Good heavens, great job there! I quite like the idea of having the swastikas over painted. Just a question from the detail lover I can be... Well, occasionally of course! ;D Shouldn't you say the swastika was a bit thicker than what you reproduced there, Eric? About twice as thick?
Have a 'k' for the road! Hic!

Cheers for the K Robert!!
I was thinking that my swastika's were a bit skinny myself, but I was looking at Peter Beisheims Bismarck as I designed them, and perhaps should have looked at other sources. I might thicken them up a bit....would'nt be too hard to do.....

Hi Eric, Went to grab the picture on www.bismarck-class.dk/bismarck/paint_schemes/paintbism1941rheinubung.htmland enlarged it to scale. I don't think showing the swastika would be much appreciated on this side of the Channel nowadays. Which I don't understand really. Thirty years ago, then thirty years after the war, model makers issued German warplanes with it painted on the tail and nobody was complaining. Today, over sixty years after the war, it has become an offense. Go figure! Anyway. Brought to 125 cm in width, circle should be 48 mm and swastika's thickness 6 mm. Hope it helps, my friend. Cheers

Great link, thanks Robert!
Mine will look as version 3 there, almost finished the painting now in fact. I will look at the possability of slightly thickening up the Swastika if I can get the time!
Thanks for the K Matt, I am half way through issue 138 just now, but it'll take a loooooooooooooooong time before I can say 'Ta da!'
