The barrels are looking great - excellent investment After some negotiation, the shipyard has returned to business, (for a short time) with the Bismarck getting prime position in the yard. Where are all the workers??? I suspect a back-to-business-shipyard-house-warming-party is going on somewhere, maybe with Chill's dancing girls invited ;D ;D ;D

Bismarck once again ventured out of doors, this time so I could sand down the hull and get it smooth. It feels fairly smooth over most of the hull now, might be a few small places that need a bit more work to come. Photos to come.

Looking good skyfire. Give him that first coat of primer, then you really find out how smooth it is.. Rod

Hey Sky
Great to see your back into it. ...... big encouragement K
Don't be scared to really sand it back I used 80 grit initially, then 120 and 400. Used a bit of Polyfiller in in any of the gaps and then gave the hull a coat of Aeroplane Dope before the final sanding.

That hull is coming on a treat. I'll second what Baz said about giving it a good sand. I too start with 80 grit. You can feel the wood start to give a bit if you start to get too thin.
Rod's comment is good too. When you think you've finished sanding give it a thin coat of primer, and then sand it off with fine paper. The bits of primer left after sanding will show you where all the gaps and hollows are !

I'll do some more work on it when it cools down a bit, going for 33 c here today and low to mid 30's until next Tuesday where the top is forecast to be 26 c. www.weatherzone.com.au/act/act/canberra
