Finally taken the plunge with photobucket, so my build diary will start here. Only 50+ issues done, so it's about bloody time I got my finger out and posted some pics. First pic is not of the Bismarck, but a tool box I bought from Aldi yesterday. I hate the shop, but I went in yesterday with my nephew and niece. Thought it would be ideal to keep my brass bits in until they are glued on to the superstructure.

What you mean 'only' 50+ issues? lol. I am only at issue 37. OK I only started just before christmas but I so wish I was at 50 ;D When are we going to see pics of your Bissy? The toolbox is a great idea. I have an unused one lying in the garage. Think I'll commandeer your idea Have a karma point

I have a problem with the main deck. I took the ship off my shelf to take some pics today and got a bit of a shock. As you can see the deck is not flat, it's lower in the middle than the edges. The photo makes it look worse than it is. The gap is 2mm and it's only in the middle. The Front and back is ok. It was ok a couple of weeks ago, so I am going to try the 'wetting' idea. I'll dampen the deck the put weights on the deck to try and flaten it.

Seems strange for your deck to sag, as the supports underneath should not let it warp. Presume that the cross members do not have a crack in them?

Some of the supports underneath the deck are bent as well, the first 3 and the last 3 are okthe 5 middle ones are bent. I dont think the soaking method will work. Everything is stuck together really well, so taking the deck apart is not an option.
I am going to put saw cuts approx every 10mm on the suspect supports. I will then make sure the deck is clamped flat (on a steel plate I got from work today), then I will glue and screw some strips to the supports. Hopefully this will work.
This is the first major problem I have had on this build, the rear deck is ok, I used the same glue and method of clamping on both removable decks. Last time I looked at the hull/deck was about 8/10 weeks ago, everything was ok then. Very dissapointed.

My first 'cat' done from issue 55. I am happy how it went together. Regarding my 'bent' deck, I cut the supports undernearth and it is quite easy to bend the deck back into shape. I will post a pic of the fix soon.

Brass bits I've worked on, up to issue 56, in first photo. The second cat was a nightmare, glued it together and it looked a mess. So I took it apart, had to clean all the old glue off, then reglue it together. Finally glued my first bit of brass to the wood. I didn't use the nails that was included in the issue. Also the brass part was too long when I put it on the wood, so I had to cut it.

Paulhbell. Brass looks very good. Question what glue did you use for the brass to brass and brass to wood? Did you have to clean the brass before it would stick? Thanks
Matt

The brass parts are looking good, Thats the 1 part I'm actually looking forward too. I prefer working with metal more then wood.
