Thanks guys.
Matt, I scrubbed the back of the brass with scotchbright, it's like the dish cleaning pad's. But I got a couple of sheets (about 6" by 4") from work.
As for glue I got some Evo-Stick multi-purpose IMPACT instant contact adhesive. Bought it from B&Q. Red tube. It is a instant glue, but I left it overnight with clamps on it. Just checked it again this morning and it isn't coming off, got a good hold.

very nice,I cant wait to start the bress bits. That Evo-Stick glue,do you still have plenty of time to move the bits about when put togeather with been instant contact. I was thinking of using superglue like other peeps, but mite try that Evo-Stick glue will save me sticking me fingers togeather.

Yes, time to move around or take off and try again. Stays tacky for a while. It says low odour on the tube, but it stinks like hell. Don't use in a small room, or you may end up on the ceiling.

Thanks for the information. I will have a look at the contact glue. Have not started on my brass yet. Hope results come out like yours.

Hi Paul,
I am very interested in using the Impact adhesive you used but have a couple of questions:
1. Does this stuff stick your fingers together as I did my first brass issue yesturday and I can sooo see me sticking my fingers together!!
2. Also can this be used without the clamps on the really small brass bits as I can't see how to get a clamp on the tiny bits?
Thanks.

Just a point. Make sure whatever glue you use on the brass etchings is water proof I'm not so sure superglue is after being wet for any length of time. Hope some one out there knows for sure........

Shouldn't be a problem, the bonded parts will all be painted over....and besids which, if my superstucture is that wet, it'll most likely be underwater and on it's way to the bottom of the pond.........!

Lol. Also don't matter for a static build. Don't think I'd try it on a sub though.

As far as I know superglue is water resistant, although I don't know if it will stand constant immersion.

I find it best to use super-glue with a small pin to join the brass parts together. I am using the evo-stick impact glue for joining the plastic/resin/brass parts to the wooden superstructure. I should have stated that more clearer, sorry. Issue 57 bought today and finished. I have just remembered that I haven't drilled my port holes yet. OOOPPS. I also haven't put the 3 doors on, the ones that go on the wall under the catapult.

Thanks for clarifying that Paul. Will be heading down to the local shop to get some Evo Stick Impact then Yeah I am gonna have to find a better way of doing my brass bits so will experiment with the needle idea. Nice work as well on those brass bits, wish my were as clean as that, I seem to get superglue all over the brass Is there something I can use to clean up the brass without dissolving the superglue?

I asked about cleaning the brass in another thread, I got various answers. From nail polish remover to paint thinners. I tried paint thinners and seem to have no problems with that.
I wasn't looking forward to the putting the catapults together, but they wern't to bad. I was dreading issues 64/65 (the platform thingy), but now looking forward to doing that.
Good luck.

Not updated in a while, so this is where I am now. Deck is now all ok after the problem with it warping, I will keep an eye on it now though, I don't want it to happen again. Although I could stand on it now and it would not bend. Today I have glued the brass parts on to the rear superstructure and 'dry fit' the deck to see what it looks like on. It feels good to glue the brass parts on, as it feels like the ship hasn't moved for weeks, just gluing brass parts together and putting them into storage. Anyway a photo.
