My original base for the rotation servo was cut using a circle cutter in my full size drill. Unfortunately, the only size cutter I have is fractionally too small, by some 2mm in diameter. This has led me to fit a circular spacer to the base as shown: As the barbette is 10mm wide, it is necessary to recess the barbette into the deck, as it should be only 5mm above the finished deck level to be correct. Hence you will see above that I have cut a hole in the deck to allow the barbette to drop down. On the under side, I have fitted a support piece of wood having the same diameter hole: Looking down through the hole, you can see that the rudder servo is in the way of the gun turret servo when it is dropped: This meant that the rudder servo had to be resited: and now the barbette sits correctly into the deck. I shall shortly be fitting the margin plank around the barbette to allow the installation of the deck planks. I do not intend fitting the barbette permanently at this time, but will wait for the brass facing plate to ensure all measurements are correct first.
