Great photos.
I hope they get 558 flying again, I remember watching 'her' at RAF Finningley. What a noise, and could she turn or what. I would like to see the USAF B2 try and turn inside an airfield fence. Got some great photos from the airshows, I've got to get my act together and get photobucket working. I can never get around to uploading.

back to the topic thread - I saw the Solar System magazine this morning. It looks a superb model, excellent detail. First issue looks like the base and some other componants. I wont be building this - havnt got funds or the time - but it does look the bees knees.

I too have fond memories of seeing XH558 at Finingley and at Leeming & Waddington, its now had its test flights back in October so its ready to roll, though though the Vulcan trust is now looking for another 150k and 50k a month therafter to keep it in the air! A tall order to meet especially when they are expectiing to achieve this in the main thru public donations, it seems there's no money to be made out of it as a business venture so where they go form here is anyone's guess, to find 50k a month is one heck of a mountian to climb! See here www.tvoc.co.uk/Its a shame the UK is not like the USA where they value there military past and do all they can to preserve it and keep it in the air.

She dose not fly but she is live. High Power engine run, look at the grass behind the aircraft it was not there when we finished! so if you want your grass cut to beyond a cinder call... We had a taxi run and had a celebrity pilot at the controls. can you name him? Really nice bloke loved to chat about aircraft and anything else.

Finally a sort of reply to my email, (took there time). Dear Anthony Thank you for your email Unfortunately the publishers do not send to Australia. Its best to go to your nearest newagent and ask if they are doing the collection. Hope this has helped. Kind Regards Gemma Customer Care

While I realise that the comments such as "do you have shares in brasso" are made in jest I think that it would be prudent to point something out. The base plates etc of the orrery are brass coated with a lacquer coating and the very last thing that should be used to maintain the shine is brasso. Using brasso will remove the lacquer and tarnishing will quickly set in. Products like Mr Sheen would be better for retaining the gloss finish.
