A while ago I mentioned that a good set of Bismarck plans appear to be available to those with deep pockets, www.foxcad.com.au/Drawings/Bismarck.htm I thought it worth contacting the suppliers with a view to offering them at a price that is within our reach: I'll post any reply I receive. David

I've just received this response from Nick Fox.
Hi David,
I'm not really sure what you're after as you don't say what size prints you'd need and I can't tell from the website how large your model is (looks fairly small). There are 4 drawings in my set and they are created at full scale so small details tend to get lost as the size of prints is decreased, which won't make customers happy. Generally I don't recommend plots at less that 1:200. Having bought some of the crappy drawings available for other ships my drawings appear relatively expensive but they are printed individually and are not copies. All up I spent about 1600 hours just doing the drawings so if I should live for until I'm 250, I should be able to make a profit from doing them. When I fall off the twig the drawings will be made public, but don't hold your breath as I'm planning to be around for a while yet. What's a real killer for the drawings is the cost of mailing them overseas, which is between $A35 and $A75 depending on size - if you want them folded the cost of mailing would be reduced (I generally send out drawings rolled in cardboard cylinders. If you can give me an idea of scale and numbers I will look at your proposal. By the way, at 1:100 scale the drawings are 3 to 3.5 metres long so you're not getting an A1 size sheet - each drawing is equivalent to 5 A1 sized drawings and I've just paid $25 for a pretty ordinary A1 size drawings of HMAS Sydney.
Regards, Nick Fox
He is clearly willing to help us, we therefore need to clarify our needs. My personal concern is to illuminate those areas where the Brower book is so deficient, therefore might I suggest for starters that he quotes for 1:200 plans giving full coverage of all deck-planking? I am happy to receive the plans folded to reduce shipping costs. If anyone else has other preferences, now is the time to voice them. A question for Mark. Would you be willing to carry an ad for these plans, rather like you did for the Brower book? If so I expect that it would be a more attractive proposition for Nick Fox. Let me have your responses soon guys. David

I agree with your suggestion that the plans should be in 1:200scale.

yes he seems to be willing to help us poor mortals ,I for one am very interested in seeing what offer he comes up with, also dont mind him advertising on this site if the offer only open to proven members, this could also be advantagious for us as we will probably pick up a few extra members.

And for us Aussies he won't need to send overseas, which would help.

Yeah a 1/200 plan would be the best choice imo. I would like to know though if in those drawings he has a nice top view detailing all the deck planking etc?

I agree with afkmatrix. I am also interested. However I would like to see the quality and details covered on the plans?
