Sorry R Kool, I have no drawings at all on the Bismarck. Try this link to "German Navy Forum" www.bismarck-class-forum.dk/index.phpand do a search, and/or ask the guys there. They are very helpful. Cheers .... Poul

Hi All, I have been busy during the holidays trying to get the superstructure started. Below are a couple of pictures showing my progress so far (the second shot is taken today). At this stage, the different parts are just stacked loosely on top of each other, so the proper alignment will be taken care of when the superstructure top, with the range finders and the mast, is finished and the fences etc. are made so everything is ready to be glued together. Because of different colours on the superstructure, I have decided to to paint the parts before gluing them together, and while I am at it, also to paint the hull at the same time. I have invested in a compressor (with pressure regulator and water filter), a spray gun, and an air brush, so painting will be quite a new experience, since I have never spray painted or airbrushed before. More to follow - hopefully soon. Cheers .... Poul

I like the forward gun, most upto date armoury!!! Shame the gun crew have no protection though! If RKO likes to do a search on e-bay, there is a set of plans at 200 scale being sold from Poland. He is also advertising a whole range of other plans at the same scale. (search for BISMARCK PLANS)

Yes Don, I know that the front gun perhaps is too much up to date for a WWII battleship, but with this outfit I thought that she may give the modern warships a bit of a run for their money. By the way, a new section was added to the main tower of the superstructure today - two more sections (range finders) plus fences and mast to go before painting and permanently fixing the complete tower. However, I need to find some 30mm tube for the range finders, so my next post may be a little while out. Cheers .... Poul

They certainly are.
Heaps of features - inc 12x optical zoom and macro - and a lot easier to use than my old and very basic Olympus Z3, which 2 years ago cost about double the price and is eating batteries as quick as my dog eats his dinner.
The pic was actually taken at a distance of 6cm only. Incredible.

That's looking really good Poul. How did you make the ladder on the lower section. It looks like a brass etching.

The ladder is lasercut hard carton (0.35mm thick) purchased as a board with 13 ea 2.5x159mm ladders so you can just cut to length. I purchased it from Thomas Pleiner in Garmeny. EUR6.00 a board is a lot cheaper than brass etchings. (I paid EUR4.00 for 4 different boards mailed to Aus) - and it looks a lot nicer than my home made ladder on the upper section, which will be replaced. Have a look at www.mtp-studio.de/oscommerce/catalog/index.php?manufacturers_id=8He's got some really nice stuff Poul

Finished the 380mm rangefinder today. It is shown here in its almost finished state: The superstructure continues to grow: and the boat deck is finished: The 152mm rangefinder - goes on top of the 380mm rangefinder - should be finished over the weekend, and the mast during next week (if all goes to plan ) completing the main components of the front/main tower. Then remains the daunting task of making all the fences before the front tower is complete. Although I know the end is still a long way out, at least it is now starting to look like a warship. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
