The address is: Hachette Partworks Ltd. 100-106 Leonard St London EC2A 4RH
The letter was signed 'The Publisher'. Before I reply to them I should like to hear from all those who have an interest in this issue. Equally, if any of you want to communicate with Hachette directly, thats all to the good; the more, the merrier. Please post feedback to this forum. David

Same here, if they do what they say on the tin, I'd be interested in getting them, though paying them extra for something that was promised as part of the kit to begin with will bug me to say the least. But, if that's what it takes...

These planks would be a good idea, and where the burn mark is on the edge i think it would give a good impression of caulking? Any comments

But, if that's what it takes... Aye, me too. I think that should supply what they said they would in the first place and the modifed parts be available if wanted - is see it as being sold a v6 engine in a particular car and then being given a straight 6 and told that the v6 is extra because they changed their mind!

However, if the burn marks are as wide as those on the printed, or even the standard plywood parts, the gain would be limited. I would like to ask them to supply images of the laser-cut decks so that we can see how fine the laser cuts are. Another issue is the type of wood are they proposing to use; the wood shown on the German issue bears no resemblance to bleached teak. Any more thoughts chaps? David

I agree David, the colour as shown by the picture on the preview site looks very wrong (but then so was the Hachette Titanic). If you cna, perhaps rather than all of us writing in, you could do it on our behalf with an idea of numbers interested??? Perhaps Hachette could send you a picture of their proposals, or better still, a sample?? Thanks for your efforts,

Thanks for you efforts from me as well David. I'm happy to make my point and equally happy to support you in your intentions. As has been said, if the lazer cut planks are ideal, then perhaps Hachette should give builders a choice, which according to their abilities, could be either of the options mentioned.

Count me in too!!
If there is a chance of getting an improved decking, then that is brilliant.
Ok, so many of us started this project as total novices, but we have all learned a huge amount, and with the combined help from this excellent forum, I know we would all like to have a go!!

I think Hachette would be doing themselves a huge favour by listening to the critisisms voiced on this and other forums and acted on some of the advice. It would go a long way to make us buy more of their partworks if we thought we were more than just a way for them to make money.I for one would buy more of their products and I'm sure others would too......

That sounds like a result David. I'd like to hear what you think of the laser cut deck as well.

David just had another thought. A sample of wood would be a good idea.Would we also require some sort of template/drawings??

Thanks for your responses men; I'm going to post a reply to Hachette on Wednesday, putting to them the various points that you've all made, so there's still time for any last minute thoughts that you may have. David
