Have you thought of a leek, Eric? In grown-up size, they practically measure the same, whether your use a centimers or inches ruler.
That's just an idea, you know. You also can use anchovies, they are quite standard in size.
Chill tried Jaffa cakes but I don't recommend them: in case you get peckish, you'll never be able to give us a dimension of your object. That goes for donuts too. No, if you say for example: "the size is 1/16th of a leek" or "half an anchovy," everybody will know what you're talking about. It's clear and precise enough.
Smart, no?
;D

Matches and sugar cubes can vary in size so if you are looking for a benchmark object to compare sizes with, the humble Humbrol paint tin is the same size the world over.

Thanks Markus. I can image the response I'll get when I also ask for a bright white LED one sixth the width of a British Standard sugar cube I'll never be able to measure my Bismarck accurately, I don't put sugar in my coffee and I don't smoke! ;D ;D Nice one, Eric! nm

Where as I have being having my fevered brow mopped and my dressing changed quite often by Calypso and Jane the barmaid I have been ferreting around on the interweb for some LEDs to suit. And I came across a company called Clas Ohlson. And on Page 236 of their catalogue they do varying LED.s Now they do a set of 3mm dia. 3.2 volt ma 1000 luminous intensity . A set of ten different colour ones (ultra white, red and blue) for £7.99 or 5 x pack of 3mm ulta white LEds for 2.89

It would be neat to have the searchlights working too - but only if you're sailing or displaying at night!

PS Have you thought of using a sugar cube as a comparator of the intensity of light? 1 LED=5*sugarcubes.
PPS I'm really meant to be getting a newsletter finished, printed (twice: two colours) and folded before seven o'clock instead of doing this.

I've placed LED's in most of the current super structures so far. I'm at issue 91 (turrets) and cannot go any further with the fitting of LED's. Fitted about 15 LED's so far, but it's a struggle to get hold of yellow ones so I decided to stick with the red and white LED's for now.

Any chance of showing the leds as they are now or a wiring diagram? Photos will follow, but a wiring diagram is still in the making as I'm still figuring out the circuits as I go, but as soon as I got it right, you guys will be the first to know. I'll try in the meantime to draft a suggested diagram and post it here as soon as I get a chance.
