Hi everyone, ive got a bit of a problem and would like other members advice or views. When this collection 1st came out 'build the hood' came out in my area at the same time, unfortunately i went with this 1 but it got canceled after I think 6 issues. I am still very very keen to build the Bismarck although I know im so behind. Ive contacted the publisher and they can do me a back issue account and send me say 8 issues a month from part 1 until I catch up or have the whole collection which is great. The snag is they cant guarantee that they have every issue, they said in an e mail 'I wish to advise that there are some issues that are currently out of stock but if you start purchasing on back order, there is a very good chance that we will be able to send you these items as soon as new stock arrives'. So my problem is, bearing in mind im absolutely gagging to do this model, should I start collecting and just hope they supply all the issues or at least send me the plans so I could make my own bits for the back issues they haven't got?. Anyway any views or ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

First of all welcome to the forum frogy.
I can't tell you what the reliability of the supplier is, but have you tried looking on ebay? Sometimes you can get a good deal on someone else who has all the issues but never got around to doing the model so they sell it. EVen if its missing a few issues, you can get those on backorder and come out way ahead on cost.
cheers
Rod

Thanks for the welcome Rod and yes I have looked on ebay and they only have a few single issues. You can see my problem im absolutely gagging to start this model but what do i do if i cant get some important issue/s or part/s.
I did try asking them if an issue was out of stock could i just have a photocopy of the plans and building instructions for the missing issues, that way i could have a go at making the missing parts myself but they said they couldnt do that.
Cheers Simon

Hi frogy, welcome to the forum! Personaly, I'd go for it, this is such a beautifull kit to have that it would be worth the battle to get all the issues. Don't forget to look at ebay, and pehaps some kind builder from europe further behind that us could order you an issue or two for some dosh.....

Hi frogy, If all else fails, when Hachette brought out the 100 issue Amati Titanic partwork, Amati brought out the separate boxed kit after about issue 80. This was identical to the partwork except for the magazines, and at about 2/3 to 3/4 the price of the total partwork. It is more than likely that Amati will bring out a boxed kit of the Bismark, towards the end of the partwork run in the last country it is issued. Perhaps you could e-mail Amati and find out their intentions?

Hi again everyone, well ive finally made my mind up, im going to go for it and realy excited about making this. There is a job lot on ebay with parts 1 through to about 15 which im going to try and get to get me started, and between that, the publisher and the offers ive had from you kind people im sure over time I can get most if not all of the parts. Will just have to get parts as and when I can afford it. Thanks to everone for their views and offers of help, i will prob need a lot more help as the build gets underway haha.
