Are the pieces steady and aligned left and right (do they stay straight?)? Is it only an up-and-down problem? nm hi nm, it's an up and down problem. I glued it and weighed it down with heavy books but when dried it didn't seem to be fitting flush.

Looking good there jj44. I am also building this kit but will leave it till I get the Bissy finished. This will give me time to gather a few issues. What kind of paint have you ordered? I've ordered tamiya primer and no27 sea grey (humbrol) spray from modelzone. Plus some basic tins of black, White etc

Didn't get much done over the weekend as I am still waiting for delivery of paints and primer from modelzone. I did get an email saying they are delayed due to weather and that they are out of stock of black paint.
Still I did get time to redo the strenghteng blocks as suggested by eric so that when the next bit arrives it should fit nicely
Thanks to, to the private notes pointing out that I am actually also talking about the hull base plates and not the deck - I really need to read the instructions better!

Hi JJ, As a general rule, the more accurate you can get the basic structure, the easier the rest of the build will be. If the hull is straight and true it will be easier to do the planking and easier to fit the deck, etc. It's worth correcting problems at this stage as it may save more frustration later during the build.

I have the DVD of the Japanese feature film Yamato. They made a full-scale set of parts of the ship for the film. The English subtitles are not great - but I know no Japanese. Any Yamato builder want a loan of it? (It's not a great film!) Send me a PM and I'll send it off - send it back when you're finished. See: www.imdb.com/title/tt0451845/plotsummarynm

so, my supply of primer and paints arrived from modelzone on thursday so i have begun work on the metal components. Nice of deagostini to give a gun turret early, its a sexy bit of the ship to get going early on. As you can see the main guns on this ship are enourmous camared to the control tower and bridge, the real thing must have been pretty impresive. the sparaying went well after i had to start again when it started raining on the first coat of primer!!!. the mid-sea grey colour looks great, and the base of the gun barrels in an off white (slight mix of bronze with white) look nice. I have followed the instructions exactly on the white, but when I look at other photos they show the white extends beyond the base if the photos and arond the front of the turret itself. hopefully the next batch of instructions will clarify if I cannot get the definitive answer by researching, something to look into next week unless anyone has any ideas.
