Look at Google Earth 34 degrees 14' 26.82" N, 132 degrees, 33' 16.47" E to see a life-size deck section of the Yamato (port side, front half).
Go to the front of the nearby museum (it's at the far side) and from street view you can see the bow flagstaff (?), an anchor, another bit and one of the guns.
It's at Kure, Japan (near Hiroshima) where the Yamato was built.

Ah ha, I just saw your post on the DeAgostini forum Viking. I stumbled across this today and am very tempted to get it. Did you go for the 11month or 22month subscription? I think I am gonna stick with it being a static ship though for this one as it looks really nice on the stand in the picture I saw.

Welcome back.
Yes, there's a Yamato build on the board here - keep watching and you'll see an update, or track backwards. Also, there's an SS France.

Looks great Viking. What a shame its 1/250 instead of 1/200 like our Bismarck. If someone brought out a 1/200 version I'd snap it up straight away. I'll be interested to know your thoughts on the quality as the build progresses.

that will be hard as a lot of ti is is cast metal so far the wooden parts are not as good as the bissy different thicknesses of ply and warped bulkheads but got over them the bulkheads had to be steamed then put in a vice then steamed Agana took around a week the the to thick bottom was sanded to size so far the cast metal has bean top notch cant fault it
