hello bismarck builders!
i'm the german guy offering the drive and planking sets in ebay.de ...
i have seen that we are about 25 issues ahead, so if anyone has questions about building the model feel free to mail me
(today i tested the drive in the bathtub - ist seems the bismarck will become quite fast...)
greetings from germany

Hi Markus, nice looking installation.
I saw your stuff on ebay, can you supply the pack as shown in the photo to the UK and what would be the cost?
If not can you let us know the spec of what you have installed?
Would save an awful lot of time sourcing components and working out the spec.
Thanks
Steve

hello! no problem, i already sold over a dozen (no joke) of those drive sets.. you may obtain them as seen on ebay as 2-motor-version for 60 euro or as 3-motor-version for 90 euro including shipping to UK. i used forward-reverse speed controllers from carson, i can deliver them for 30 euro each. greetings markus

hello! costs depend on what you want to order: all prices include shipping tu UK (if you order one of the drive sets, too) 2-motor-drive-set 50 euro 3-motor-drive-set 80 euro speed controller 30 euro each condensers against interference (3 pcs. 5 euro) v-mixer 30 euro (lets the bismarck turn in just a few meters) Y-distributor cable 7,50 euro each ( 2 needed for v-mixer) rudder levers 7,50 euro each (2 needed) pair of rudders 20 euro servo mith mounting set and steel wire to attach the rudders 10 euro NiMH cell 1,2V 9000mAh 15 euro each (5-6 needed - provides a high charge and discharge rate) these items are exactly what i used in my bismarck - they work properly (tested in bathtub) you can be sure to get the items you ordered, i don't intend to rip anybody off.... markus

a little hint:
the easiest way to fit the 3-motor-version ist to cut out the vertcal keel plate BEFORE it is mounted (it comes in one of the next issues). cutting out when the hull is skinned is a bit tricky, but still possible...
the 2-motor version can be fitted at any time...

and here the wiring diagram for the 3-motor-drive... markus

for those who just want a 2-motor-setup: wiring is the same - but without controller 2 and motor 2 - the left input of the v-mixer is then connected directly to the receiver's throttle output (without y-cable) the only disadvantage of the 2-motor-setup is the lower speed when turning the ship because the mixer slows the corresponding motor proportionally down, depending of the rudder "angle". without v-mixer (doesn't matter if 2 or 3 motors) you will need a "huge lake" to turn the ship ;D another way to turn the ship properly is to mount much bigger rudders - but how does that look with full throttle in three-motor-setup the "middle drive" runs at full speed, even when rudder is fully set to left or right... markus

Bigger rudders would look out of place when the boat is on display, unless theres a way of swapping the rudders for the display ones.

yes, but changing and adjusting the rudders every time isn't quite fun..... and i don't just want to run in the ship when it's dark so no one can see those ugly rudders

Yeah know what you mean, but it is a case of do you want a an accurate scale model or an RC version, there is usally a compromise to be made between a scale static display model and an RC version, some things simply do not work depending on the route you take. I'am heading for Markus's version re the electronics/drive etc
