Markus did a great job acquiring all of the German R/C parts and motors for me and getting them delivered to the UK. I look forward to the time I can install and test the motors. I have not started building yet as I have only received Parts 1 to 3 from Hachette. At this pace the project will have to be finished by my grandchildren. Markus Many thanks David

Thanks guys, very enlightening. I might just go the whole hog and go triple screw on my model.
If I may ask, how much would it cost in total, for a triple screw set up? Motors, props, prop shafts, rudders, and all the necessary electronic gizmo's?
Also, as this is my first r/c build, can anyone suggest an affordable and durable radio set?
Cheers.

here the prices and some more stuff i can deliver to UK
100 GBP is approx. 145 EURO
all prices include shipping (insured with tracking) to UK (if you order one of the drive sets, too)
2-motor-drive-set 50 euro 3-motor-drive-set 80 euro (include motors mounted in bracket, cardan joints, prop shafts, props)
speed controller 30A for 1 motor 30 euro each (2 or 3 needed) speed controller 40A for 2 motors 40 euro (1 needed) speed controller 80A for 3 motors 50 euro (1 needed)
condensers against interference (3 pcs. 5 euro)
v-mixer (lets the bismarck turn in just a few meters) 30 euro
pair of Y-distributor cables 15 euro
pair of rudder levers 15 euro
pair of rudders from lassek 20 euro
servo mith mounting set and steel wire to attach the rudders 10 euro
NiMH cell 1,2V 4500mAh (5-6 needed - provides a high charge and discharge rate) 10 euro each
NiMH cell 1,2V 9000mAh (5-6 needed - provides a high charge and discharge rate) 15 euro each
2 channel radio control set 40 MHz (similar to above set) 50 euro
3 channel radio control set 40 MHz with 2 proportional channels and 1 switching channel - with transmitter and receiver (standard switching modules can be attached to the receiver) 60 euro
4 channel radio control set 40 MHz with 4 proportional channels - with transmitter and receiver 80 euro
the single speed controller for 2 or 3 motors can be used instead of mounting multiple controlles, v-mixer and y-cables. this is a lot cheaper but i personally dislike this kind of setup (see earlier in this thread)

Great looking model Markus, Just a few more questions what would be the best way to place an order? Also, what types of payment do you accept? With the battery cells, do they come separately or as a pack with connection leads etc? Thanks for your help, It's nice to have people in the know we can call upon for assistance. It's much appreciated.

Hi Marcu, I am deeply impressed with your latest pictures, and it has given me some thought on my own model! Thanks for the info on the props, they do look good. Ref the centre prop shaft, what is the triangular piece of wood between the motor and the shaft itself? is this some kind of thrust bearing? Aso like your thought on motorising the gun turrets later on, one thing that I have now learnt from you is to think many issues ahead, as my keel had already been built before I saw your articles and involved me in a lot of fiddly work to cut in the modifications needed for the third motor. Looking forward togetting my gear Regards Don B

It's much appreciated. just mail me which items you need and i will get them for you payment via check - please note that my bank charges me with around 20 euro (no joke) for that or payment via money transfer to my bank account . for that i can supply you with my bank dates, including IBAN and SWIFT/BIC i get those battery cells seperate but it's no problem for me to solder them together for additional 10 euro i can attach red and black leads in 2,5mm², a main switch in the red lead (to be mounted under turret "anton" or somewhere else) and deliver a "soldering plate" (like that mounted directly in front of the speed controllers) to connect all power lines. then you receive the cells as seen in the pics markus

Looking forward togetting my gear Regards Don B hello don! i mounted miniature ball bearings because i had slight vibrations at full speed with the props running dry. so i tried to solve this by mounting those bearings, but without success simple solution: putting the ship where it belongs - into the water ;D no more vibrations - even without bearings this "problem" was simply caused by high rpm and no load on the cardan joints - lower rpm with load by props in the water killed all vibrations lesson learned, but 20 euro spent for nothing... ... and your items will be on their way soon markus

Hi guys, just a quick question for the experienced r/c'ers. What frequency is ideal for r/c boating? Are there any legal issues we should check first?

Yes, either 27 or 40 Mhz is permitted. 40 Mhz is preferred. 35 Mhz is reserved for model planes.

In the UK it is illegal to use 35mhz radio equipment for any purpose other than for airborne use

Don't know if anyone is interested but have seen a set of motors for the Bismarck on German E-bay site at a better price than Hachettes - Search using 230136562410 will bring you to them - 2 motors for £33 and 3 for £53 (both plus P&P) - My kit is going to be static otherwise I would have got a set for myself.
