I have just started building the mast.
On step 2 isssue 69 where you have to file of the top to produce the shape. How far down do the copper pipe (part 502) do i file?

Just sat looking at it Chill, would 10-12mm seem about right?
I don't think it's vital to be 100% accurate.

It'll be a few days before I'm onto the mast myself, still working on issue 67, I'm scratch building some inside detail for the Admiral's bridge.....map table, voice pipes etc...just about to paint it prior to putting it all together.

Hi Eric
I have done that too - 15mm - so it looks like 15 mm is the standard

Nope, it is a snug fit, no sanding was required.
Same with the 3mm hole drilled in the hanger roof, perfect snug fit.

I had no probs fitting it into the 3mm hole on the roof but it wont slip in the pipe...

When I filled down the pipe, I needed to use a small round file to take out some metal which had curled in as I filed the angle.....try that.

Ok, I am doing issue 71 just now and want to fit alternative part 531 onto the main cross-yard.
This is the footrope with the extra angled part on it. The destructions however don't seem to say which way up to fit it, pointing up or down.
Has anybody else fitted part 531? and if so, which way up???

Hello Eric I have fitted 531. I posted it on the diary Matts Bismarck test. I looked at it like they old sailing days where they could walk along the yard on it. Mind you I could be wrong but that's how it is at the moment
