Its really the intellectual and engineering challenge that drives me, that, and the fact that my local model boat society (The Warship Squadron) expect no less of me as their president and a submarine engineer (although my Wife agrees with the rest of you, especially when I seem to spend most of my (limited) free time in the workshop playing with my toys instead of her !!!!)

Dear Achtung!! The gun barrels came from Euromodels: sslrelay.com/www.euromodels.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=154950be0e373dc/shopdata/index.shopscriptDo a search on "380mm" and you will see them amongst the results. Euromodels do a very large range of gun barrels for ships, tanks, etc., etc. They also do the other gun barrels that will suit the smaller calibre Bismarck guns, however, I will be using the Hachette supplied ones for them as I will not be making them moveable. See my photo website (and page 1 of this build diary) and look at the set called "Bismarck Main (380mm) Gun Turret" to see how I fitted them so that they could elevate : www.flickr.com/photos/commander-popeye/

More details of the main gun servo power. This is the film of it moving (see also under "Main Guns" in the "Superstructure" section) and my photo site. See photo set "Bismarck Main (380mm) Gun Turret" for full details of the gun turret settup and moving barrels etc. www.flickr.com/photos/commander-popeye/This is a closeup of the centre section of my Bismarck, with 2 of my birthday "Texan" mince pies (filled with succulant mincemeat and apple soaked for several days in my apple and cherry brandy before cooking)

I would have use cornish clotted cream but Olive Oyl would have been very angry at the further expansion of my displacement, especially midships (and given that the pastry was made with butter and sugar and the internal compartment was filled with crystallised ginger, glace cherries as well as the fruit mincemeat, all greased up with homemade 40 proof cherry and apple brandy, left to lubricate for several days before use)
