I would be very keen to obtain these Laser cut decks as opposed to theprinted ones you are currently planning to issue. I am also led to believe that these pieces will be available in issue 60. I currently obtain my copies on a weekly basis from my local newsagent, socould you kindly advise me as to how I can obtain these parts from you. I am a member of the UK Build the Bismarck Forum(www.buildthebismarck.co.uk) on which I am posting my construction progressand I must say I am really enjoying this project. I am very impressed withthe 'teasers' I am seeing on other sites (Germany, etc) that startedconstruction at an earlier date than the UK. I eagerly await to your reply. Yours faithfully

I had a reply this morning....exactly the same wording as chill's reply. Thanks to MikeB's e-mail address for Jacklin we appear to have a live feed! (Sorry, Mike, in my haste to get my letter rolling the other day, I neglected to thankyou in the way of a karma point...it will be done right now). Anyone else who hasn't done anything about their laser decks yet might take this path....the more the merrier!!!(spellcheck)
Dave.

yes but atleast the plans will be cut quicker ,only got one cut so far, another little tip for the cualking use poster paint powder mixed in the pva glue to fix the decking then when dry rub down and hopefully caulking without the hassle, well thats what the great BRIAN KING says in my Advanced Ship Modelling book that is very good bedtime reading,a must for the avid ship modeller or another good book is WARSHIPS AND WARSHIP MODELLING by David Wooley and William Clarke some very handy tips on margin joggling as well as some decent pics of said on real warships,if anyone interested i can give you the ISBN numbers but no pics as all copyrighted.

I know Chris has recieved his decking......has anybody else got theirs?
Full report, please!
Is it the same as the decking Markus got, and if so was there an alternative offered?
Also, chris wants to know what to varnish the deck with.....any ideas?

I got my issue 60 today. The deck "planking" looks better than I expected, and good enough if you do not wish to fully plank as I did. Hachette promised me details of the laser cut planking with issue 60, but nothing there!!!! (how unusual!!!). 3 small bits of deck, not sure where they go and no mention of them in the notes, only in the picture. They suggest gluing down all the brass bits on the lowest section of the superstructure, but if you do, then the deck cannot be fixed in place until after the brass has been sprayed!!. As my decks are already in, am painting mine before gluing on. Ref varnish, I use a spray can version of polyurethane varnish, but any good waterprrof/UV protected varnish would do if you are going afloat. I personally prefer the satin finish varnish, as I find matt to dull and gloss too shiny!!!

Quick question Swanrail.
If you are painting your brass work before you have attached it will there be any problems with glueing them as you have varnished them etc? I am using the EVO Impact glue will this still work?
Thanks.

No problems at all Afkmatrix. I have only painted the part on show, the reverse is untouched brass. They will glue onto the wooden frame, not the deck, and the frame is NOT varnished. I have both superglue and the Evostik Impact adhesive. The hangar door was fixed with superglue with no problem, however, as I will need to slighty align the brass side walls I am hoping to use the impact adhesive there. Some of the side walls will need white metal smoke vents fitting much later, at that time, I will need to scrape away the paint where they fit, should not be hard to do. Making good will have to be by brushwork.
