Hi everyone, I know I am new here and I am also a beginner at this boat building lark but I thought I would put up a Log of my build, mainly so people can point out what I am doing wrong!! I am currently at Issue 35 and have started putting on my second layer of planking but having to wait on some Modelling pins I have ordered as its impossible to do it with my clamps. I have also just filled in quite a few gaps in the planking and deck and then had a good sanding of the hull. So what do you think of my progress so far? Anything I should redo or think about? Hull mostly 1st lot of planking:

Looking good mate. But can I suggest that you get your photos a bit bigger? My ancient eyes have trouble seeing that small, as I am saving them up for the brass bits!!!

Thanks for enlarging the pictures, that is much better, and your hull looks even more impressive now!!!

Thanks for the comments guys.
Just 2 quick things. I am going to be buying some Glattfix to waterproof the hull, but I have already glued the bow deck on will giving only outter coats to this section be enough?
I have just put a level onto my removable deck and its not level going form port to starboard it seems it is higher in the middle, should I sand this so it is level?

Looks even better now the superstructure isn't upside down Never used Glattfix, but I would only apply it after everything else is glued on, and the hull is ready to paint. I wouldn't worry too much about sealing inside the bow section. As long as everything is well glued, and well painted, you shouldn't get any moisture inside. All ships have a camber on their decks, although this seems to have been forgotten by Amati on this model. I'd try putting the deck houses in place and seeing if they sit flat or rock from side to side. Then sand as necessary.

Suggest you have a look for Davids posting elsewhere, he is deliberately introducing the camber as it is closer to the real thing as Mark says.

Yeah I have seen his post and I by sheer luck have managed to get a camber in the deck, have no clue how lol. The only thing being is as others have mentioned is the Super Structure parts will probably have to be cut to match this camber. I honestly don't think I have the skill or patience to do this!! So I am thinking its probably best if I try and get the deck a bit flatter.
