Back on the subject of this thread - yes, very nice Chill. You're doing a great job. Look forward to seeing some pics after you've finished sanding the hull.

Just started a bit of filling around the bow piece, just to see how well i could do it. Looks good upto now. Althiugh I am in a bit of a pickle at the mo. About how to attach the strips at the bow (portholes) I use a bit of spare planks at the stern and it looks ok and will look fab after sanding but the bow area looks a bit hard. Anyone got any pics that I can study of the bow area with a) strips used b) planks used.
Thanks.

I'm looking at that area, and keep putting it off...... I'll be planking it - not completely sure how yet. Probably fitting a plank to the curve of the anchor pocket, then cutting it to length. Then I'm thinking along the lines of coating both plank and hull with white glue - allow it to go tacky and iron it in place. With a bit of a fiddle, a good measure of luck, and maybe just a little filler it will come out OK.

Well I too am not using Hachette's portholes as there wrong and I have the Anatomy book so I can get them right (I hope the book is correct!!).
What I have done is purchase a sheet of 1mmx100mm lime sheet. I have then traced round the Hachette porthole shape and then cut it out. This means I have the right shape and also that the sheet is bendable so I can get it to curve to the shape of the hull. I have cut 3 shapes out so far and it seems like its going to work a treat.

If you look in Swanrail's modification thread there is a list of websites. You want Model Dockyard and then on that site look under building materials.

And heres an awww factor: They do a great job of making the planks the right length.... The silver one is Salt - the ginger one is Cinnamon. Both Lion head breed rabbits.
