Being new here is there any pictorial evidence of his ship? I really want to see the pics as it will make me feel even better about my build

Just finished modifying my main deck by bonding the two parts together. I drilled and cut out two holes in each section, sized to slide two off-cut 3x10mm decking planks through, then epoxy glued them and the two deck parts together, they are now as strong as any other deck part....no chance of splitting (I hope!).

With the deck now in one part, and fitting very snug into the hull, I no longer need all ten magnets I had put in, so I have removed four of them, and may take away two more, as they are almost unnessesary now.
I will modify the front of the removable deck at a much later date, when I know the positioning of the breakwater on the hachette supplied decks.

Good work Eric, I also put an extra suport inbetween the two decks. I have just finished doing the same with the stern removable deck, so now have an extra long deck!!! Not sure yet how it will lift out when necessary, but it is much better for the deck planking and also for wiring up the 4 gun turret servos, at least they are all in one place now! Have left the magnets as they were, but not needed any more in the front section, will see how it goes when the weight of the superstructure is added, as have a suspicion that they will be no need for any magnets at all!!!!

So if you have joined the main deck and stern deck together Swanrail will you just plank straight over the gap or line the decking up against it? I might well attach the stern piece to my main decking we'll see. I have just been sanding down my main deck so it slots into the extended planking, talk about an aching arm lol.

I am planking over what was the original gap, but keeping the gap between the after fixed piece and the removable deck, have no other option!!! This latter gap is only 60mm wide as against what would have been one at 60mm and another at 145mm!!!

yes, thats it.
In retrospect, it might have been possible to have that little end part attached onto the main decks as well, that would have avoided any gaps in the decks.
Ah well, hindsight is a terrible thing!

I did consider making the fixed stern section part of the removable deck, but decided against it: The stern anchor must have a hawse pipe fitted (means drilling a hole up from the anchor recess onto the main deck). The anchor shank passes up through this hole, and is attached to a short length of chain shackled to the deck (does NOT go down to a chain locker). The anchor shain is also held with two stoppers. Have a look at the shipyard model of the bismarck for more details.According to my measurements taken from the anatomy book, I will need at least 52mm of deck from the stern to accommodate this, actually have 62mm! (could still remove that part by making the anchor chain a dummy, and not attached to the anchor, should you wish to try it).
