O.k. so here I go. This build diary begins a bit into the build (planking) and hopefully we'll go from there! Did have some early pics but they mysteriously vanished from my computer.... ahem.... So, here we are, frames all done and planking is underway. Next to the Bismarck, the Titanic's build crew seemed to be on the longest tea break ever... Here is a view of the side planking to date.

No problem Markus, It was a while ago! Ok, so work has been comencing slowly on the stern section planking. Trying a different method of using dressmakers pins as opposed to screw clamps and jaw clamps. Seems to go well, although my thumb is a little sore!!! Here are some pics: A general view of the stern, showing progress of planking. A side on shot with resin part d(?) to show shaft modification and alignment. A stern on shot with resin part in place.

Nice mikey. Keep on plodding along with those planks it will end I promise Also I don't know if you would want to buy you can get some really good modellers pins from a US shop for around $8 inc del. The handy things with these are that they are flat headed so I could use a small hammer to give them a little tap in (saved me fingers and thumbs!!). If you look in my build diary you can see them there, they are the lovely pink pins lol.

I did my first planking layer the exact same way Mikey, only I used a pair on pointy nose pliers to push the pins in.......no thumb pain!!
Your planking looks excellent, nice and tight.

Howdy, well, here are a couple of pics just to show this weeks progress so far. Basically, some more planking, slowly creeping up wards and for wards. The resin part is only resting in place to work out it's mounting area. There is one thing I would ask, and that is should I plank over the side prop shaft holes and somehow drill them out later? or should I plank round the prop shaft holes? Anyway, here's the pics: This one shows the stern end cleaned up and the "wrap under" where the rudders go fully planked. A side shot showing the progress of the aft planking.
