Thanks bruno and Baz. Having worked on Bismarck is helping a bit, still had fun getting that bit of the superstructre dealt with. A few more bits of superstructure to come, then the masts and rigging. Still need to taper the masts and, (I think) the bowsprit.

You Tube video of the original Bluenose racing au.youtube.com/watch?v=mWUD_r6E4U8The words to the song. Stan Rogers - Bluenose Once again with the tide she slips her lines Turns her head and comes awake Where she lay so still there at Privateer's Wharf Now she quickly gathers way She will range far south from the harbour mouth And rejoice with every wave Who will know the Bluenose in the sun Feel her bow rise free of Mother Sea In a sunburst cloud of spray That stings the cheek while the rigging will speak Of sea-miles gone away She is always best under full press Hard over as she'll lay And who will know the Bluenose in the sun? And who will know the Bluenose in the sun? That proud, fast Queen of the Grand Banks Fleet Portrayed on every dime Knew hard work in her time...hard work in every line The rich men's toys of the Gloucester boys With their token bit of cod They snapped their spars and strained to pass her by But she left them all behind Now her namesake remains to show what she has been What every schoolboy remembers and will not come again To think she's the last of the Grand Banks Schooners That fed so many men And who will know the Bluenose in the sun? And who will know the Bluenose in the sun? So does she not take wing like a living thing Child of the moving tide See her pass with grace on the water's face With clean and quiet pride Our own tall ship of great renown still lifts unto the sky Who will know the Bluenose in the sun?

Why is that little "Wile E. Coyote" of yours, Skyfire, asking for help here? You sure need none, it's a master's fine work to me. Can't wait to see her with her 8 sails... Robert

Before you put the sails on, spend some time looking at the finished model in its naked form. I have found that sails supplied with many kits look out of scale and once fitted, actually detract from the overall finished product. If you are determined to fit sails, buy some very fine white (soak in tea to get the weathered look) or cream handerchiefs and use the supplied sails as a templates. Then get mum on the sewing machine. Big improvement. Baz

The sails in the Amati kit are not premade ones. You get supplied with some off white material and plans for them.

She is coming on nicely Sky. Personally I love rigging sailing ships. I find it very satisfying. It's just a shame that you have to spend so long building the model before you can rig it

A bit more progress on Bluenose, painting the rest of the hull may have to wait till the new year, have relatives coming and the shipyard is to be requsistioned for it's normal use as a table. Only parts glued to the deck is the superstructure and the bitts, the rest is just sitting on the deck to see how things look. The forward hatch has only had superglue carefully poured over it's surface, think I'll leave it as such as it looks quite nice to me.

Added some matt varnish to the deck and to the superstructure, then added the barrels with balsa used as the blocks of wood to hold them in place.
