I see that all responses so far are very positive, and mine is definitely not different.
From day one, I have felt to be part of this forum (even though I am not building the Bissy), and I would be very sad to see it go. It has already created interest far beyond the Bissy partwork.
I also like the layout as it is.
Never the less, the partwork seems to be what sets this forum apart from the others.
So, in keeping the present format (I have mainly just rearranged the furniture), here is my suggestion to a future forum:
PARTWORK & GENERAL MODELLERS FORUM (I like the name from Mike B's post)
GENERAL General Board Web site Updates Testing, testing … Introductions Guest posting area
AWARDS
THE BRIG Officer’s mess Registry of Births, Marriages & Keelhaulings Jokes
PARTWORKS Bismarck Solar System Build Diaries of Partworks Previews Delivery Issues Modifications and corrections Discussions on specific issues
SHIP MODELLING Build Diaries Plans Hull Planking Decking and deck fittings Superstructure Painting General building discussions Modifications, Hints & Tips The Radio Control Corner
OTHER MODELS Air Force Army Railway
HISTORICAL DISCUSSIONS

Might have to add a build diary of my own layout I think, (ok it's to keep Jcmanu's one company). - LoL ;D ;D ;D

I've had a new thought after my earlier post.
If possible, it would be nice to have a permanent gallery displaying only the best of finished models. And just so it doesn't spiral out of control, pictures for this gallery should be send to - and approved by - Mark, who therefore should be the only one allowed to post in the gallery on our behalf.

Good idea poulw. A thread for comments on the pictures would be nice too, think it would need some form of id thingy for each picture so people would know what the person leaving the comment was refering too.

Great ideas there - thanks guys. I think the first change I'm gong to make is to change the forum name. Initially to 'Build the Bismarck and other models' or something similar. I'll drop the Bismarck reference towards the end of the series and make it more general. The main reason for this is that the Bismarck is still the best bait for the forum and I don't want to lose that just yet. I love the idea of a best of the best picture gallery. I think I'll allow free posting, one thread per model. I don't want it to be too elitist though, otherwise my models would never make the grade

Have a section on Model Railways and move the Build the Flying Scotsman into it. Also have the build diaries of jcmanu's and my model railway in it, (once we start them) and anyone else of course. Think there is a thread on model railways already in the Other Models section, which could be moved as well.

There's no worries about the forum ending soon. Even if I stopped visiting and let it run its course it would still be going strong for a couple of years at least.
Of course, if I let the forum run as it is until interest wanes it will be too late to make changes to rescue it. If I make changes now it will (hopefully) lay the foundations for a sustainable forum.

thanks skywire ;D for not leaving my new railway model on its own, nice for it to have a buddy. NOW FOR ALL MY FRIENDS BUILDING THE SOLAR SYSTEM. i know a lot of you are at the early stages yet, i have just bought issue no. 52,,,,,,,,,,,, yes issue 52,,,,,,,,,,,,, finished and its brill, will video it soon , as i find out how. ANYWAY,,,, on the back of issue 52 is a new solar partwork starting, just order it off your regular shop, like i've done. this new model looks like it will take about 6 months to complete, its called build an earth , moon and sun orbiter. it demonstrates; our planets cycle of day and night. ; the changing seasons ;different lunar cycles ;how the moon moves thru different phases each month AND enables you to predict both lunar and solar eclipses. what a model to go along with the solar system, getting my first one next week. will try and post pic of it during the week on solar thread. jc
