Hi there guys , I have started making the main turrets , I have followed all the instructions with the wood frame and it looks ok . I have a problem though with the brass parts in particular 892 as this part for some reason has a larger overhang at the rear and if i were to file down i would lose a lot of the rivets . Also the angles seem slightly different in some way Has anyone else had a problem with their turrets and what solution did they use ? I have used up 2 turrets already and may have to re-order from Hatchette if i cannot salvage the brass . look forward to any ideas or solutions I might just be getting skelly eyed as I have been at the ship constant for a couple of weeks to catch up I will post my pics of my progress when I get a chance . Take care all ;D

Hi Northman, I had the samre problem and if I remember correctly from another thread a few others have too. I've filled in the gaps on one of them and given it a spray of paint to test it and it looks ok, I havent lost too many rivets. Because this is my first model like this i'll be happy with just finishing it so i'm not going to reorder them unless i really have too.

I haven't got that far yet, but I'll keep an eye out for the problem when I do. My initial thoughts are maybe a layer of thin ply to brin.g the wood out to match the size of the brass

Mine were the same, by the last one I had worked out what to do; I got part 892 lined up correctly at the back, putting the extra lenght to the front and filed off the excess there.
I'm not too bothered about loosing the rivets on the other ones, I should be able to reproduce them with dots of resin or some such.
I'm not sure extending the turret at the back would work, I think. Mainly as the other brass parts ARE correctly lenghted, also (this applies most to turrets Bruno and Dora), there may not be enough space behind the turrets to extend them without touching the superstructure.

Ahoy there shipmates I finished the main turrets and thought they were ok . A word of Warning now Be very careful when filling and especially sanding as the rivets are easily removed when sanding . I tried Erics solution which was dots of resin over the sanded down rivets to bring them back up , but to be honest I just could not get them small enough for my satisfaction and I have went to the cost of getting parts 92 - 95 again and I will have another bash at these pesky turrets BA-HUMBUG . I hope this information might help some of you guys about to start on the main turrets . I will get on with the secondary turrets till my new parts arrive and hope these turn out better than my last attempt .
