Going well there Thymen. Think I totally ignored all instructions about the planking and once I had the 1st few in the right place, things went very well.
I had to let some planks follow their natural curve on the 2nd layer on the bottom of the hull and add some stealers in. All worked out ok after sanding down. That reminds me, I need to finish that off. ;D

Thanks for all the compliments! I've almost finished the first layer, just the stern part left. Still got some 10 or so planks left though, is that normal or did I leave to many little gaps? Thymen

I also have about 10 planks left, nothing to worry about although I don't have any gaps since I forced my planks in position... hull warped slighty but managed to correct it with a bottle of apple cider (wonderful stuff...)

Hi Danny, is that you drinking it (when everything alters it shape anyway), or you soaking the hull in it or using it as a weight to hold the hull down (what a waste!)

Last week I got the issues 26 to 29, but 22 to 25 still haven't arrived. They were out of stock and had to be re-ordered they said. I've been busy with sanding the hull, should I use filler already to even things up or is that only for after the second layer? My first part of the superstructure. I'm going to wait with the outer deck planks until I've got the hull above the armour belt fully planked. I want to make side extensions, do I have to sand off a layer of the outer deck planks or is it easier to sand of a layer off the deck planking beams? Thymen

Yes Thymen, to answer your question, you should use filler after the first planking. BUT NO PRIMER!
And nice job, the hull looks just perfect from here.

Haven't been doing much with Bissy lately, Hachette screwed up with delivery. I'm still waiting for issue's 22 to 25 while issue 37 already arrived. They had to re-order issue 25 several times because there weren't enough of them. I should be able to start planking the second layer but I want to finish the first layer first (the part above the armour belt). Things should go fast when issue 22 arrives but now I'm just annoyed, I want to get the job done but can't.

Finally some progress: Still only first layer planking done. One of the last gaps in the first layer planking, I'm almost done. The lower hull has already been sanded and I've just begun using filler to get rid of al the cracks and dents. The deck is a little wider that the hull (roughly 2mm on each side), I'll try to sand it down and add a second layer of planks on the citadel planking to get rid of the gap between hull and deck. The superstructure is getting shape. A bird's-eye (or swordfish? ;D) view, Photobucket mysteriously rotated this picture, maybe they think it's funny... By the way, the table used as shipyard is the dining table. ;D Thymen
