Week 3: Now I'm getting very confident that the habit is something of the past.
The cravings come and go, but much less. Friends told me that it's a three cycle, first 3 days, then 3 weeks, 3 months and eventually 3 years you'll be totally through.
Thanks again guys for your support as I told my wife, I don't know what I'll tell the Bissy team if I fail.
Today's celebration: Wife and daughters (with boy friends) served me to the teeth today. I only needed to go to the toilet myself. Cheap but very nice.
One of my friends promised me a free holiday in Durban for a week early October.

Charles de Gaulle announced that he had quit smoking: he used his pride and stubborness to get him through - couldn't let himself down!

Hello coenie
Sorry I have seen yours thread only today.
I stopped smoking some years ago and I know what it can mean.
But hold on. And as somebody said "Yes YOU can"

Another nice reward - very thoughtful. Shows that you can do it with the right incentives and a lot of determination. Have another proverbial pat on the back

I gave up some years ago now. My method was to convince my brain when I felt like a sig I would have one later. The time between feeling like a sig became longer and longer . My brain seemed to except this, rather than tell it I had stopped. It worked for me and I never started again. I even had a packet handy as I found at night was the bad time. However using the above method I even had one out of the packet but convinced myself I would have it later and it worked. Anyway good luck with your attempt. I know what you are going through. The other thing of course is you have to want to stop.

Again thanks for your ongoing support. Trust me, without it I would've been going like a steam train AGAIN. Rem2007, am I right if I "read" you're about to quit on 30 Sept 2009? If I'm right please use this thread to inform us about your progress. Just as a matter of inrest, my "build room" where my Bissy is shaping up, is a symphony of nice odours as it's permanent ashtray is removed and my hours spend there is smoke free.

Yes you read correctly, pick up my patchs this week and D Day is Oct 1.... I think what reallly got me was my 10 year old step son always having to wait for us outside of places while we were on holiday and when I go support him at footy matches, I think I'd like to be around to see him play for Chelsea, I might even get a free ticket. My partner is joining me as well. Will keep you updated.
