Wow Swanrail, I'll have to come there now, when I get over to the UK again in 2011. I love the observation cars. I like carriages more than the locomotives.

Yes, thats the one. Here is another view of the carriage, note the name, not sure why as we live in Dorset!!! The carriage was used as a tearoom in LA, USA.(on a golf course) We were virtually given it, but it cost us £45k to bring it home and refurbish it. We have also recovered from the USA another wagon used to carry Churchills coffin from Waterloo to Blenheim. That one is still being restored (less the coffin!).

Drove right by her today....anyway I have a dilemma, everyone runs, thinking i missed something. Just doing issue 64 and noticed in step 15 on page 128 where it says to epoxy the search light platform on to the position indicated, well there is a wall attached below it and I seem to have missed those two. The 2 just aft of the hanger, kinda boxy in shape. Anyone tell me what I missed. I'll see if I can revamp a picture.

Anyway, while waiting on the upload here is a shot of the aft signal station, major panic when the last bit to glue on when on crooked and when I tried to pry it off, PING, looked for hours on hands and knees, guess where I found it, on the underside of the platform still stuck with glue, doh! and this image indicates the walls in place in issue 64.

Hi Robert, the searchlight platform sits on top of the parts fitted wayyyyyyy back in issue 28, parts 110 and 114, that form a rectangular box that, as you say, is positioned aft of the hanger. The platform should sit nicely on top of the box with the part 464 down almost touching the deck behind it.
I found that the small rails obstructed mine too, very frustrating! I am afraid that my only option was to clip off a small part of the rail to allow the platform to sit down properly. Also, I fitted the two side parts 418 and 417 first.
You may want to discard the instruction to glue it down just now anyway, and leave it off until you have compleated issue 66 first.

418 and 417, got it, what issue were those attached, must have been one of my early morning building sessions, one of the few times the kitchen is quiet. But, wait...yippee, daughter number 1 is off to university in 6 weeks, move son upstairs to her room and presto, boat building room in the house. Who said you can't get your own way, still have to do sanding on wheelie bins in the back garden though.

Grrrrrr...got my re-issue of part 60 in the post this morning and it was broke at one nd, not happy, someone will be getting a rather irate email Monday morning! Thinking of doing Don's method to the main deck's planking attacing the entire deck and doing access cut outs for rc access. If you ook at other builds of this calibre none have this amount of access, it is ot necessary and poses a major amount of water problems. It may involve alot of work, but judging from the delivery issues I've had and broken and/or poor quality pieces, I'm looking at another 2 years before the finished vessel will be afloat, my god I'll be 52 then. Egad! Need a break, think I'll go out and take some pictures of the lifeboat.

Ouch that sucks rem, think an angry email is well worth it!!! I feel your pain though, i reordered issue 64 as I mucked it up and when it arrived the brass was bent something stupid!! So going to take it to my dads garage and put it in a clamp and pray it straightens out. Amazingly my deck pieces came in perfect condition!!! Not that it matters as I stupidly decided to do it by hand lol. Nearly done my 3rd bit of decking though so pics should appear in my build diary soon.

My issue 64 was slightly bent as well, but just at one end and with a little persuasion, managed to get them all straightened, as you can see by the pics of the aft signal station.

People in high places.
Well pulled a few strings and got issue 60 delivered today sealed in a box with loads of bubble wrap, and the quality is as near to perfect as I'll get, on with the build.
