Don, did you Glattfix your deck?
I have not done so, as I want to make sure the top layer decking bonds to it.

Just had a look around your area and I can't find out what filler you used on hull. What did you use?
Thanks in advance.

Not sure what he used, but I and a few other people have used 2 part fillers. Mine is from Ron Seal in a green lidded tin and I think it is called High Performance Wood Filler. I would advise if you get this stuff to not use too much at a time as it can dry quite quickly (although if you do it in a cold place it sets slower) But this stuff sands down very easily and is a close colour match to the wood too. Oh it does stink though hence me having to do the filling in the lean too and nearly getting frost bite

Just wondering if there are any flags that need to be put on our model and if Amati will supply them or not?
Also I was wondering if anyone had pictures etc of where the flags are placed?

How many coats of primer should I put on?
My first coat (pictured in my diary) got sanded back to the wood in many places and more filler applied where needed, and another coat put on in its place, much improving the hull.
I feel I should spray on some more coats, but don't know how many.
Cheers
Eric.

I also used the two part Ronseal wood filler, its gives a good finish, and the natural version blends in well! (also used it for filling in veneer on the deck planking, cut out groove where awkward shape needs to be and then fill, and sand off when dry. Caution- this wood filler sets very quickly, so best to only use a small amount at a time, say a teaspoon full.

Hi Eric, I laid down about 5 or 5 primer spray coats. The reason being that the first few coats, I rubbed down well before re spraying, and also filled in any small flaws that only showed up when the paint went on. So far, have also given about 3 to 4 coats of the red (in my case, aubergine acrylic spray, and also of the black stripe (in my case, dark grey). Suggest that you spray on as many coats as you feel to give the best result, but a min of two of each colour. However, when it comes to spraying the brass parts, then I shall only spray one coat of primer and one of topcoat, else detail will be lost. Unfortunately, my hull is taking a bit of a bashing, where I am trying out various mods and "improvements", so I am probably getting more slight indents on it that I would expect most others. Finally, when I am satisfied, I shall give several coats of a clear acrylic varnish over to seal the paint surface, and touhen it up. This should also enhance the colours as well.

Flags: Most models that I have built, do not have flags supplied, so probably not on this one. Should imagine that we will get the flag poles much later say issue 130 ish. I have bought flags of very good quality for my Victory (including the famous England expects, etc.) and for my Granado from the Model flags website, address can be fund in my links section. (they do an enormous range of sizes, and cover all eras from way back to modern).
