Have you got a copy of Anatomy of a Ship, Bismarck ? There is also a handrail round the top of the funnel, if you feel like adding some really fine detail ! You can see it on the photos if you look really carefully !! Thanks Mark and no, I'm still plodding along without that book. How cruel of you to mention the handrail. I've noticed it and tried to imagine its not there. Looking carefully there are actually 3 of them. I have been trying to think of ways I could construct them so they look to scale. Gusti has struggled with them on his 1:100 scale card model. I'm trying to find some tiny attachment lugs. Once I've invented something I might have a go. Baz

The funnel is a bit of an ongoing saga. There are actually lots of mods in this region. Here are some more Baz

Now I know why I've not been in a hurry to build the ships boats....... errrr ............. and paint them ....... Gordon, you're a massichist These midgets are yet one more nightmare. And yes - I spray painted the black section of hull on the launches. Once again, I've strayed a bit from recommended colours. I've painted a skiff and jolly boat but as I can't see the sense of painting the seats to represent polished timber, I've painted them grey. ps - the admirals launch is still in the construction stage And for the small launch - completed ..... and the other others to come, I'm going to try a two tones of brown. Light brown for the decks and dark brown for the cabins. I'll be interested in anybody's feedback. And as for extra rails around the top section of the funnnel Mark........ well, I'm fiddling. May get them there down the track, but they're on the planning board for the moment. I've painted the top section in a metal steel finish , but it looks a fraction dark........ Baz

I've painted the top section in a metal steel finish , but it looks a fraction dark........ Don't forget the exhaust fumes would make any painting in that area a dark grey anyway, from whats in the exhaust, so I think it looks ok. Infact it looks like exhaust fumes have been pouring through the funnel already.

I'm a "massichist"... I think doing it by hand may prove otherwise. lol!
Well done Baz, the boats look fantastic and I wouldn't bother to much about the funnel as its looks spot on to me.

Ex-cel-lent job here, Baz! Is there a launching date planned in your schedule, so for us to come and celebrate? We'll bring the usual bottle of champagne, of course. In the meanwhile, get a well deserved 'k' for your work!
