When the Bissy sank, there were two planes on board. In issue 139 page 416, they found the two in the after hangar when they went down to the wreck, albeit only charred remains! There is also a mystery as to why the rails used for the cradles were deployed, only normally done when the aircraft are brought out, wonder if someone thought that they could fly off and out of trouble? I think I read that some aircraft were pushed overboard some time before the end. Damage to the launch system meant they couldn't be flown. Anyone remember a source for this? nm

Issue 118 has arrived For those of us using the Hachette gun barrels, there is ample opportunity to enhance the look of the fairly pedestrian blast bags. I have tried a test modification and thought I'd post the result. This mod took about 3 hours from start to finish, so there is a lot of work ahead (down the track), but worth the effort. The colour of the blast bags is difficult to confirm, so I'll opt for a light grey colour. Thought I'd add a bit of colour to see how it would look. The turret is still only painted with primer. Baz

Time for another update. Have gone back a couple of issues to complete the ventilators on the side of the main hanger. I thought about building them from plastic card, but in the end used the wood supplied and the basic method of construction as recommended in issues 115 and 117. I attached a brass top to the wooden structures and then covered them with Aeroplane dope and sanded smooth using 400 grit before attaching the rest of the brass work. Theres still the doors to attach (issue 117) and some bits on the port side including an upside down J section ( Interestingly, I searched the Die Bismarck site to try and find reference to these additions. They seem to appear as if by magic in issue 138 - all very strange) Using photos of the ventilators in situ on the actual Bismarck as reference, I again made some other minor changes. Baz

Another update Issue 119 Outboard framework for storage of ships boats on either side of the main hanger. There are no problems if you follow the instructions All parts fit well and secure in place as per the original ship. Nice to have a win once, now and again Note - have made the railings droop on purpose. They look to be portable on the actual ship. Baz

I know guys Its been ages since my last post, but its been a long story Looks like I need to catch up on heaps here Firstly... All my best wishes to you all for the year ahead Just to show I have not been totally idle, here are a few pics of my latests mods No real explanations needed, photos tell the tale Anyone silly enough to follow my Arado mods needs a medal But the end result is most satisfying I learned from doing the open winged model first The folded wing model has much finer struts and a 9 cylinder motor (as apposed to 7 for the first - tired eyes) Painting is a pain in the arssss..... er butt Still to finish the folded wing model All good fun, but lotsa patience required Baz
