Sure is awesome, especially at the 100 scale!!! To me it seems a shame to put so much effort into such a model, but as it is still only card, will it stand the test of time? I still think that wooden/brass models have a better long term future, and should be safe to sail!!! Still am amazed at how much effort went into just making the funnel. Makes me wonder how ours will finish up, as we do not seem to have enough parts to come for the amount of detail.

i used a protractor from my kids maths set on the drawing in figure 04 page 115 for the placement of the hatch door, also doesn't the hatch open onto the second raised deck areaon the rear bridge section although the picture in the mag doesn't appear to show the two tab's that are on the base of my part 237.

swainrail have you checked out the german site the detail and amount of brasswork seem's unending but well worth the money in my opinion, was a bit worried when first started the model because of some of the critisism i had read on the net about the price of this model but am well pleased with the results thus far,the quality is far better than most i've seen availible on other model sites.

Unfortunately I do not have a protactor!!! Pic. 08 has allowed me to use trig to get the angles, but pic 04 does not give an angle - can anyone measure it and let me know please?? Ref the brass bits, yes I have been watching the German preview site, they have info on issues upto 87, which does not leave a lot left, yet we have lots and lots of guns, turrets, airplanes, ventilators, deck fittings galore to go on yet to match the original picture in issue 1 flysheet. It also seems to be a very long wait before we start to glue all these bits down, but I suppose they know what they are doing!!! I am also very pleased with the etchings, just wish I did not have a box full instead of a ship full!!!

I guess that the arnaments will be among the last bits supplied, but as the Germans are already well through the brass superstructure and are receiving parts such as rangefinders now, I don't think it will be long before they are getting them.

One, which has just come on the market at most UK DIY stores (Loctite Super Glue Easy Brush in Anti-spill safety Bottle 5g Ref 87819150 at about £2.75p), has a "non-tip" stand and a small brush built into the cap which allows a small area to be fairly accurately "painted" with glue - very good for gluing on the doors and hatches. This glue has been out for quite a while over here and I have found a problem with it. It has excellent adhesion but limited bottle life. After using several bottles, I think the problem is contamination. Every time the brush is used to coat the part, it is put back into the bottle. I think this allows contaminants to be picked up by the brush and put back into the glue. I say this because my bottle of glue hasn't lasted long, after a few weeks it starts to gel in the bottle and the brush becomes clogged.

swainrail i will get you the angle tmoz when kid's get up but how will it help if you don't have a protractor . why not try putting the part over the picture in fig 04 and centre it and mark the hatch cover on the part that should work, hope this helps but will still get you the angle tmoz mate.

Just put me two catapults together, not as hard as I though it might be....the parts fitted together perfectly, excellent precision of manufacture of the brass parts.

Thanks for the info Shane, very helpful. Nice to see your model is coming along well. Be warned though if you do plank the main deck, mine took about 150 hours to complete, and I planked in 300mm lengths into which I cut the lengths, in my case, 30mm apart (which is 6metres to scale) which seemde about right going by the deck part supplied in issue 60. Thats what Hachette are using anyway!!!! Now have only two more decks to plank, both quite small thank goodness.
