Can anyone clear something up with the decking.
With the main removeable decking we trimmed the bow planks flush with the first rib do we do the same with the stern as well?

You should be able to fit the front removable section and the aft removable section together with the bow end fixed section to form a continuous flat deck (mine looks like an aircraft carrier at the moment!). Hence planks need to be trimmed in order for the parts to fit snugly together. The after end of the back removable section has the stop bulkhead against which it sits.

Cheers thought I would have to otherwise there would be one hell of a step on the deck!

I have finished the deck (issue 21) and I had to fill between issues 20 and 21. I had a gap about 2/3mm, I used wood filler to correct the problem. Started sanding now.
Anyone else had the same problem.

Got a 1-2mm gap will probaly use a dash of filler then sand, or leave it as it should be coverd by the superstructure... but I am one of those people whi knows its there so will not be happy knowing its there even if it cant be seen.

Just started the decking, am I right to keep the deck in place on the hull while the glue dries? Got 6 tins of soup and beans (heinz naturally), weighing the new beams down, I figure this will ensure the decking maintains it's proper shape.
Cheers eric.

Nice job. It looks like you've gone a little past issue 19, though. The way I read it, the planking toward the stern isn't complete at the end of 19 or have I read it wrong?
I also see you have the same thing I have in that there is a small step of about a mm between where the bow decking ends and the planking begins. I was wondering if we need to sand or fill at that point to make the levels smooth.

Has anyone found that parts 62 are not a very good fit i.e. too thin when placed next to the deck planking? I know they are the same thickness as the planks but they just dont sit right.

Hi nemesis, Thanks for the compliment. Issue 19 doesn't seem to show the completion of the planks near the stern, but as the diagram on page 37 shows in yellow that we should have the parts, so I completed the task. As for the step you mention, yep, I think we will have to sand down the planks to the level of the ply! Cheers napoleon

Nearly finished issue 19, however I have found a gap between parts 60 and the removable deck, it is flush on the starboard side, but 1mm out on the port. I guess I have a kink in my hull. Too big to fix? Too small to worry about?
