I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to replace the moon arms with something thinner. Perhaps you could get some silver wire and various sized silver balls from a jewelery supplier ? Food for thought - I might give it a go.
I guess the planet arms have to be that thick as they are quite long with the distant planets.

Next build up date: We had to collect Issues 26 through to 30 for the Saturn stage. Issue 26 came with... Saturn and three of it moons. Issue 27: 106 tooth gear. Issue 28: 48 tooth gear, grub screws, Self tapping screws, Planet spindle, washers. Issue 29: 80 tooth gear. and issue 30. Planet gear arm, grub screw, self tapping screws, and new feet more about them in a mo... Now we can finally get on with the build! Its the normal procedure of building up these two from most of the parts issued over the last few weeks. The two larger gears are screwed together seperated by the gear spindle in the middle, this has a collar reound it to keep the black plastic hidden it is held in place by a grub screw. the arm also has a plastic piece in the middle. These both slide on to the central column after removing the base (again!). Saturn in place. The black plastic supports are only used when the unit is not in operation and during the build to give better support the the ever lengthening bars. Going back to the feet issue... The original feet had very small bottoms the new feet have big bottoms (is this getting pervy!), the more planets that get added the more unstable the usit became as the footprint of the originals were not big enough to support the evergrowing unit. The new feet are more then capable to keep it from toppling over, eventually you can do away with the plastic feet as the nice shiny motorized base section has nice long sweeping legs. The two feet, as you can see the new larger foot has a much better footprint its rockstable now. The unit still not complete is getting very weighty once I find the scales I will pop it on and find out just what it top out at so far... Nick

Pluto has now bwwn added to the build. The planet has a very loose fit so the tissue paper is just to hold it in place whilst I get some PTFE tape. Why is it cats always seem to get in the way just as you take a photo! (The black bars are only for support when the model is not in operation) The next stage will see the Dwarf planet Eris added (Issues 46-50) Then the last two will be the motor unit and stand. The second Special DVD issue is now out "Sixteen Days" Columba's final mission. current weight is about 6lbs!

Looks good. In the magazine it says Eris is finished with issue's 46 and 47, so the last 5 issues are to build the base.
Just a little nit pick, I can see that your Uranus and Neptune planets are painted wrong as well as mine, a bit silly of Eaglemoss to get this wrong. The cloud bands are painted wrong on the planet's, Uranus should be tilted over and Neptune's should be parallel. Have a look at issue 31.
Even with the 2 planet errors it's a bloody good model.
When I saw your last photo I thought I was seeing a ghost, I had a cat with the same face markings about 20 years ago.

Thats Flinty he can be a right pain the the you know what! but I love him. You sit down to do something next second he is on your lap patting your face and then snuggles down in yours arms like a baby. So you cant do what you were planning to do, He is a rescue cat, that I foster along with his "brother" Oscar Both are rescue cats, they have no imune system as they have FIV (Feline AIDS) I have been fostering these type of cats for about 10 years as people throw them out. Just because they are sick dose not mean they will not live shorter lives than a normal cat they dont cost any more than a normal cat they just live indoors and go for a walk round the garden on a dog lead.
